TWSSF Face of the Festival 2012, free music series and Chevrolet Canada sponsors the Big Air Grand Prize!
Suggested Tweet: As the Face of the Fest for @wssf , you’ll meet the bands, attend the events & live the ultimate Festival
experience! http://ow.ly/9jQ7u
Whistler, B.C. – The TELUS World Ski and Snowboard Festival has released the call for entries for the rejuvenated
Face of the Festival competition. A collaborative initiative between one of Canada’s largest entertainment and music
news websites, Postmedia’s Dose.ca, and the TELUS World Ski and Snowboard Festival, the Face of the Festival
competition is on the search for someone to present the daily highlights from TWSSF, to be broadcast via webisodes
on Dose.ca from April 13-22.
The national call out asks for entrants to create a 30 second video detailing why they should win the title of Face of the
Festival, and all of the spoils that comes along with the name. The prize pack includes return flights from any major
domestic airport, 11 nights of accommodation from April 12-23, a VIP access pass to all the events, concerts,
competitions at TWSSF, a chance to interview the hottest bands, athletes, artists and celebrities at the festival, $1000
spending money and an insight into the lucrative world of broadcast presentation.
Voting begins on March 10 th , via YouTube views, with the Top 5 finalists being announced on March 15 th . A 24hr
Facebook vote and a panel of 5 judges from Dose.ca and TWSSF will determine the winner, to be announced March
16 th .
Entrants are asked to fill in the form at www.wssf.com/face-festival and upload their video to YouTube, submitting a
functioning URL for the video, entitled ‘TWSSF Face of the Festival 2012 – Their Name’.
The winner of the Face of the Festival competition will be in attendance at all events, chronicling the who’s who, and
ins and outs of the Festival, including interviewing the Outdoor Concert Series bands such as The Dudes, playing the
mainstage on Friday April 13 th . Formed in Calgary, Alberta in 1996, The Dudes will kick off the 10 days with a bang!
An indie-rock extravaganza, their infectious tunes will be true music to your ears. The mainstage will be pumping on
Saturday February 14 th when Swollen Members hit the stage. One of the hottest rap/hip groups to date, Swollen
Members is a festival favourite, and promises to light it up with insane beats and wicked lyrics. Sunday April 15 th sees
TinPan Orange, a brother-and-sister folk-based duo reveling in lush songcraft and lyrical depth, from Australia,
opening for The Cat Empire, an incredibly eclectic band whose musical genre lies somewhere “where hip-hop meets
reggae, where jazz is played with dirty hands, where a Cuban line meets an Aussie rule, where nothing seems in place
but sounds like many places played in one earthy chord.” (Artist website biography)
Tuesday April 17 th is the day of CFOX 99.3 Seeds Band Competition winners Head of the Herd and Louder Than Love.
JUNO winning Canadian new wave revivalists Dragonette throw caution to the wind when they play on Thursday
April 19 th on the mainstage. They are a “bouncy electro-pop act with a glammy, polymorphic persona rather like that
of the Scissor Sisters” and with as much personality as musical talent, Dragonette are an electronic-rock band with
pop influences and a love for theatrics. Get ready to be blown away!
Famous as 420, Friday April 20 th welcomes the amazing Michael Franti and 90% of the Spearhead clan, as Michael
Franti and Friends. In the mid-Nineties, Franti first formed Spearhead, and increasingly in recent years, he’s found his
own voice musically and his own organic brand of popular success. This concert is sure to solidify Franti and a musical
force to be reckoned with.
The British Columbians, a Vancouver area-based quartet playing eclectic, old school blues-influenced brand of rock n’
roll, open for The Sheepdogs, a Saskatoon based band championing an old-school and blood-pumping rock and roll

evival, on Sunday April 22 nd , capping off an incredible 10 days of free music concerts. More acts will be announced on
the Outdoor Concert Series page as they’re confirmed.
Chevrolet Canada will be giving away a brand new 2012 Chevrolet Sonic to the winning skier in the WSI Big Air
competition, held Saturday April 21st, and Chevrolet will also be presenting the Chevrolet Zone in Village Square, with
DJs playing live every day from 11:30am until 6:00pm. The new line-up of 2012 and 2013 Chevrolet vehicles will be
on display in the Chevrolet Zone, featuring the Chevrolet Sonic, Spark, and the all-new Camaro ZL1, the fastest
production Camaro ever.
