Accord<strong>in</strong>g to a temporary Regulation from July 1, 2013 <strong>Croatia</strong><br />

has adopted a policy that restricts citizens of EU countries on the<br />

list to live and work <strong>in</strong> <strong>Croatia</strong> without a permit due to a bilateral<br />

agreement between countries that have the same Regulation for<br />

<strong>Croatia</strong>n citizens <strong>in</strong> their own country. Their legal status <strong>in</strong> <strong>Croatia</strong><br />

can be regulated the follow<strong>in</strong>g ways:<br />

1. Apply<strong>in</strong>g for a temporary stay – if they are stay<strong>in</strong>g less than 90<br />

days<br />

Additional details: The Law on Foreigners dated October 28, 2011:<br />

and Amendments to the Law, published <strong>in</strong> the Official Gazette<br />

(‘Narodne Nov<strong>in</strong>e’) No. 130/2011 on November 16, 2011 are regulations<br />

perta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g to the residence of foreigners <strong>in</strong> the Republic of<br />

<strong>Croatia</strong>. Contact your local <strong>Croatia</strong>n embassy for more <strong>in</strong>formation.<br />

Customs Regulations<br />

Customs regulations <strong>in</strong> the Republic of <strong>Croatia</strong> are almost entirely<br />

harmonized with EU regulations and standards, but the value of<br />

non-commercial items that can be brought <strong>in</strong>to the country for personal<br />

use and are exempt from tax duty or VAT, is limited to only<br />

3,200 Kunas per passenger (sea and air traffic) and 2,200 Kunas<br />

per passenger (all the other means of transportation).<br />

Foreign and local currency and traveler’s cheques may be freely<br />

taken <strong>in</strong> and out of the country by both foreign and <strong>Croatia</strong>n citizens<br />

with foreign residence, but transfers of an amount of 10,000<br />

Euros or more must be declared to a customs official. S<strong>in</strong>ce July 1,<br />

2013 you can fill <strong>in</strong> the Cash declaration form (http://www.car<strong>in</strong>a.<br />

hr/CURH/Dokumenti/Globalni/cdf-en.pdf), pr<strong>in</strong>t it out and deliver<br />

it to a customs official at the border customs office or fill it <strong>in</strong> on<br />

the scene.<br />
