Leadership Daytona Class XXXIII Wrap-Up Continuing a proud tradition of the Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Daytona Class XXXIII graduated on May 30. The “new” Leadership Daytona program is now in its second year, featuring an all-new set of classes, an interactive/presentation portion of each class, and an MBA-style case study from a local CEO for the class to solve. Chairman Bo Brewer and Co-chair Joni Hunt lead the program. Classes were facilitated by an energetic and enthusiastic group of leaders in the community, including many Chamber board members and two graduates of last year’s Leadership Daytona program. Classes included a passionate welcome to the program from Coach Steve Ridder; a new style of SIMSOC; Healthcare 101; Organizational Behavior (including insight into what each class member’s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator means in their workplace ); Government & Politics; Presentation Skills; Economic Development; Tourism; Our Legal System (facilitated by Kelly Parsons and Judge Parsons and featuring a mock trial with 3 juries); Media (facilitated by Lori Catron and Tim Stockman and featuring an interactive exercise with all of the Daytona Beach News-Journal editors); Community and Board Service; and a new class - Arts, Culture and our Natural Resources (facilitated by Preston Root and featuring a tour of the Root Family Museum by Preston, a discussion of governmental influence on our natural resources by Clay Henderson, and a presentation by Hyatt Brown on what a legacy means). Class members were given the opportunity to chair a class, and to introduce more than one presenter to hone their presentation skills and widen their network. This year’s CEO Business Challenge was given to the class from both Florida Hospital Regional CEO Daryl Tol and Halifax Health CEO Jeff Feasel. Class members were given a unique business problem to solve when the program began in February and presented their unique solution to the CEOs on the last day of the program. 6
