Last weeks speaker—GLENN COOMBS – PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR
Glenn Coombs & his business partner Pamela Neal were guests of the Adelaide Rotary Club at Tuesday‘s meeting.
They are licensed investigation agents who have operational experience and are Government Accredited for all types
of investigations and security. Their business Tango Investigations offers a variety of investigative services including
fraud, missing persons and surveillance.
Glenn was the spokesman for the company. He explained that he had had over eleven years experience ‐ first practicing
in the UK for 6 years before moving to Adelaide 5 years ago. He joined Tango Investigations as a director in July
this year. The basic licence is obtained through a TAFE College and is given after two years experience. It is difficult
to get a licence as Investigative Services prefer experienced personnel and are loath to take on new graduates.
Training is ongoing.
Glenn ‘s particular interest is investigation of infidelity. He explained how evidence was obtained and the devices
used in gaining such evidence. Cameras the size of a lipstick with wide angle and close range lenses, video cameras
to film evidence and tracking devices on cars or telephones were some of the articles used. The work involves late
hours and is seven days a week.
Payment for services is made whether a result is achieved or not so there is no reason to falsify evidence. The court
readily accepts such evidence as an accurate record of the incident shortly after it occurred, because the information
obtained is recorded whilst it was still clear in the memory of the persons involved. Statements taken long after the
incident can be influenced by other persons and important facts may be forgotten.
Glenn completed his talk by discussing some case studies which were both amusing and sad.
