Successive governments have recognized the need<br />
for a coord<strong>in</strong>ated <strong>and</strong> comprehensive policy <strong>on</strong> <strong>SME</strong>s.<br />
A number of attempts have been made at<br />
elaborat<strong>in</strong>g such a policy (2008 be<strong>in</strong>g the most<br />
recent). This latest policy proposal will be the subject<br />
of my presentati<strong>on</strong>.<br />
Over the years, support for <strong>SME</strong>s has been<br />
implemented <strong>in</strong> an ad hoc <strong>and</strong> haphazard manner
