"Light the Advent Candle Two "
God of Hope, help each of us take time from our busy schedules and prepare for the
celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Let the joy of His promise of salvation, keep our faith
alive and make us eager to let His light shine in us and in the lives of those we meet. Amen.
PRAYERS: We continue to keep in prayer all our families who are experiencing difficult times.
Our St. Columba community is a true blessing.
Virtue of the week: Hope - as we journey through this Advent Season, the virtue of hope keeps
us focused on what is truly important, the promise of our salvation through Jesus. We are so
blessed by our St. Columba students who show us hope in so many ways.
GOODBYE AND WELCOME; On Monday we say farewell to Mr. Waite, who is moving to
Oregon. We thank him for all he has done for St. Columba and wish him all the best. We also say
welcome to Mr. Juarez who is our ne\ P.E. coach for grades 5 thru 8. Congratulations, Mr.
Juarez!
CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS LITURGY MASS: Reminder: St. Columba Church will
celebrate a special Christmas Liturgy for children and their families, on Christmas Eve at 4:00 pm
in the hall. This is an excellent opportunity for children to experience the liturgy at a level geared
to their understanding. Please come and 6elebrate this special Mass.
CHRISTMAS PRAYER PROGRAM: Our Christmas program "Christmas Around the World"
is scheduled for Thursday, December 17th at 6:30 pm. This evening is a special opportunity for
our community to come together to prepare for Christmas. Our Christmas program will also be
presented on Friday, December 18l at 9:15 am in the church. Reminder: at the end of the
program all students will return to their classroom to pick up coals and jackets and receive their
treat before leaving.
THANK YOU; A special thank you to Michelle Doyle for all her effort and time spent at our
Barnes & Noble Bookfair, and to our fantastic St. Columba Teachers. Students, and parents too,
really enjoyed the story time with our teachers. Many thanks to all who supported this fundraiser.
Remember - the voucher is good until this Sunday.

THANK YOU; Thank you to 8th grade and 1st grade for our school Mass (Feast of Immaculate
Conception) on Tuesday.

PROGRESS REPORTS; Look for your child's progress report coming home today in the
family envelope. Please sign and return by Monday, December 14th. Thank you.

MINIMUM DAY: Reminder: Friday, December 18th is a minimum day, 12:00 dismissal. Please
note: Extended care and preschool will be closed at 12:00.
GIFT CARDS: Gift card orders will resume January 8th. Also, thank you to Sheri Jacobs, Lisa
Mookini and Shizuyo Solis and Amy Miramontes for volunteering then- time to process gift card
orders and thank you to all our families who support our gift card program. Without your help
this program would not be possible. Reminder: If you have ordered gift cards, please remember
they must be picked up on December 18 by noon.
COOKIE DOUGH/PIZZA FUNDRAISER; Looking ahead! The Cookie Dough/Pizza
fundraiser begins on Friday, January 8th and will end January 29th. This is a great fundraiser and a
wonderful way to offset your family fundraising commitment of $450.00.
SAFETY PATROL'S CANDIDATE; Best wishes to Caitlin Edwards who is our St. Columba
School Safety Patrol's candidate for Colonel. Caitlin interviewed on Wednesday for this
prestigious award.
MAKE-UP: Last chance to order! If you are ordering school pictures, please mark your selection
and return with payment Monday.
WINTER SPORTS: Thank you to all our parents who will be volunteering their time to coach
our winter sports program. You make our sports program happen!
6TH GR. BINGO FUNDRAISER FOR 6TH GR. CAMP; Mark calendar! Once again Fr. Mario
has graciously offered the proceeds from one Church Bingo night to go towards our student's 6th
grade camp. That night has been scheduled for Friday, January 8th from 6:30 - 9:30 pm. Come
join the fun and help support our 6th grade camp fundraiser.
CONFETTI EGGS: Looking ahead! Our annual Springfest confetti egg collection has started.
With the holidays approaching and lots of baking going on it's time to plan on saving egg shells
for our Confetti egg booth at Springfest. This is a very popular booth and lots of egg shells our
needed to keep this booth open. Please do not bring in the clean shells until after the holidays.
