Blouson
dropped waisted
This top can have any type of neckline,
what’s important here is the soft
gathered fabric around the tummy area
and the low waisted band. This can gently
mask the shape of your whole upper
torso and so blurs the line between
bust and tummy.
Camisole
This is a top that normally appears in
flimsy or lightweight fabrics. It gives little
or no shape to curves but is good for
slender frames. Worn either braless or
with a good strapless bra it can look
very demure and was a key look with
jeans not so long ago.
Avoid if you have large or
square shoulders.
automatically give your body a better shape. (Anything that relies on the
body to give it shape – think thin Lycra top – will showcase your body just
as it is).
• Choose fitted jackets that have a gentle waist feature, a good shape
to the shoulder and always single breasted. These will create a fantastic
shape for you.
• Wear soft jersey tops that blouson round the waist and settle on
the hips. That way your bust and hips remain defined but your waist is
camouflaged.
• Enjoy smocked styles that are fitted at the bust but fall loosely
over the tummy.
• Many women still wish they had a fuller bosom. If this is you, then look
for tops that create extra volume and therefore enhance the top part of
your body. Choose anything with frills, ruching or loose fabric gathers at
the front around the bust line. What you are doing is creating an illusion
of fullness. This will make your middle seem smaller immediately.
• Choose v-necks that lengthen necks and create a flattering line for
the bosom; this will minimise your bust if you feel it is too full. But it will
also streamline the overall shape of your upper torso.
• Wear a correctly fitted, smooth and seamless bra, making sure that
straps do not cut into your flesh creating lumps and bumps. It is crucial
that you take time to get the correct fit – your bust line will create
definition and the shapelier it looks, the smaller your waist will look by
comparison. Use an underwired minimiser to reduce a full bust but still
keep the definition or underwired with pre-formed cups to give you
extra volume, if you are a smaller cup.
