ADHD is a complex disorder that has many components and therefore needs
to be addressed in a number of ways. Very often, the most important thing
that anyone can do for a child with ADHD is to take time to get to know them,
and to understand their condition and how it affects them. This can include
spending time with the child, talking to their parents and other professionals
and reading any reports that are available.
The ADHD-friendly adult...
Is aware of what life is like for the child with ADHD
Is warm and understanding
Is prepared to be flexible
Has a well-developed sense of humour
Works closely with parents
These characteristics will go a long way to help make school life positive for
any child, but they are particularly important for the child with ADHD.
