<strong>SENIOR</strong> <strong>COLLEGE</strong> & <strong>CAREER</strong> <strong>RESEARCH</strong> <strong>PROJECT</strong><br />
INTRODUCTION<br />
This project is designed to help you, as a high school senior, make a thoughtful decision about your future career<br />
path.<br />
TASK<br />
You will prepare a resume. You will then complete a Personal Assessment Inventory. Based upon the results of<br />
your personal inventory you will research a career that is of interest to you. You will then research a school or<br />
college which offers training in your selected field.<br />
This research will provide the foundation of a 2 page paper using MLA format about your personal style (your<br />
interests and strengths), your chosen career (education and skills required), and the school or college which offers<br />
training in that field.<br />
The final project will be a Multimedia presentation (Powerpoint) where the research paper will provide the<br />
material for the powerpoint. You will present your powerpoint to your class and will be peer reviewed. You will<br />
then be asked to provide constructive feedback in an online assessment of this project.<br />
PROCESS<br />
Step 1:<br />
Prepare a RESUME. Go to the MHS Library, select Research, then GALE , see library staff for password, scroll<br />
down to the Testing and Education Reference Center, then Career Tools, then Resume Builder. Prepare your<br />
resume, print a copy and give to your teacher. Save a copy to your flash drive.
Step 2:<br />
You will take 3 assessment tests online-see below. These assessments will help you to determine your Interests<br />
and Strengths and a Career you would like to pursue. Based upon the results of the Personal Assessment<br />
Inventory Interpretation Report (#1) write down your Interests and Strengths and Career choice in the Personality<br />
Style and Career Choice Outline in paragraph form.<br />

Take the Perfect Career Assessment. PRINT THE INTERPRETATION REPORT, give to your<br />
teacher.<br />
• Take the CareerClickrs xPanded test<br />

THE FINAL PAGE (it will have 1-3 letters on it depending upon your selection), write your name on<br />
top, give to your teacher.<br />
• Go to Career Test for the Soul (Personal Values Assessment- http://www.career-test.biz/ , take (1) the<br />
Prioritize Your Life Values, http://www.career-test.biz/values_assessment.htm PRINT THE LIFE<br />
VALUES RESULTS, write your name on the top, give to your teacher. Visit the Your Soul at Work web<br />
site where three (3) complete chapters related to these specific topics have been posted.<br />
Read the 3 chapters.<br />
Step 3
– <strong>RESEARCH</strong> A <strong>CAREER</strong> that is of interest to you based upon the results of your Interpretation Report<br />
(www.iccweb.com ) ). Go to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, at http://www.bls.gov/oco/ Use the<br />
information below which is in the Occupational Outlook Handbook to help answer the questions in your Career<br />
Research Outline in paragraph form.<br />

Step 4: -<br />
<strong>RESEARCH</strong> a SCHOOL or <strong>COLLEGE</strong> which offers training in your selected field. Go to the MHS Library,<br />
select Research, GALE Testing and Education Reference Center, then Career Vo-Tech School Search. Enter<br />
the following information about your school/college into School/College of Choice Outline in Paragraph form:<br />
Step 5: -<br />
Based upon your research , WRITE A 2 PAGE PAPER using MLA format about your Personal Style (your<br />
interests and strengths), your Career Choice, and the School or College which offers training in that field. (Use<br />
Cornell Notes, MLA format , Plagiarism Unit )<br />
Step 6: -<br />
CREATE A MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATION in MSPowerpoint about your college and career research. Use<br />
the Powerpoint template. Your Research Paper will provide the material for the powerpoint. (See Powerpoint<br />
Template, and Powerpoint Rubric)<br />
Step 7: -<br />
PRESENT your MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATION to the class. Use the peer review form to grade your peers<br />
as they present. Complete the Online Assessment Survey.<br />
