FURNISHINGS AND<br />

ACCESSORIES ON SHOW<br />

The Barbados Investment & Development Corporation<br />

(<strong>BIDC</strong>) is partnering with the Barbados Manufacturers<br />

Association (BMA) and the Council for Investment,<br />

Exports, Foreign Exchange and the Diaspora (CIEX), within<br />

the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade in hosting<br />

a furniture expo. The Barbados 20<strong>10</strong> Holiday and Home<br />

Furnishings and Decorative Accessories Expo is scheduled for<br />

November 24 - 26, 20<strong>10</strong>. Manufacturers and designers have<br />

come together to produce a range of new and innovative<br />

products which will be showcased as viable alternatives to<br />

imports. The range will include products for the accommodation<br />

sector, homes, offices, schools and restaurants.<br />

NEW DIRECTORS IN CHARGE<br />

The <strong>BIDC</strong> has a new Director of Export Development and<br />

Promotion.<br />

Ms. Sonja Trotman was appointed to the post, effective August<br />

01, 20<strong>10</strong>. She succeeds Ms. Cora Clarke, who retired from the<br />

Corporation on July 31st, 20<strong>10</strong>. Ms. Trotman formerly served<br />

as Manager and later Director of the Research and Information<br />

Services Division.<br />

The <strong>BIDC</strong> also welcomed a new Director of Investments and<br />

Property. Ms. Karen Forde joined the staff of the <strong>BIDC</strong> on July<br />

15, 20<strong>10</strong> in the post of Director Investments and Properties.<br />

HAPPY RETIREMENT TO CLARKE AND CLARKE<br />

The <strong>BIDC</strong> recently bade happy retirement to two senior<br />

members of its Export Development and Promotion Division.<br />

was followed by Manager, Mr. Henderson Clarke (no relation),<br />

who retired effective August 31, 20<strong>10</strong> after 29 years of service.<br />

She expressed the wish that the <strong>BIDC</strong> will continue to develop<br />

as an organization of which not only staff, but all Barbados<br />

can be proud, fulfilling its objectives for the future growth and<br />

development of its clients, both internal and external.<br />

Ms. Clarke speaking during her last day in office said “It has<br />

been a privilege and an invaluable education to have served<br />

the Corporation and to have made a contribution to the<br />
