<strong>Design</strong> <strong>Assistant</strong><br />
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<br />
• Work with <strong>Design</strong>ers to create a design package from concept to production drawings for permanent<br />
and traveling exhibits.<br />
• Coordinate department project workflow and maintain quality of product per institutional standards.<br />
• Develop design efficiently with respect to budgets and schedules.<br />
• Follow-up through fabrication and installation process.<br />
• Support design department with preparation for presentations.<br />
• Assist other museums displaying <strong>OMSI</strong>-built exhibits.<br />
• Work with <strong>Design</strong> division under the Creative Director to ensure design standards are met.<br />
• Takes lead in processing work orders, purchase orders, and associated paperwork.<br />
• Assist Creative Director with project coordination.<br />
• Act as a liaison between the <strong>Design</strong> division and outside contacts including vendors, and other<br />
professionals.<br />
• This position is non-exempt exempt, paid hourly salaried<br />
• This position is regular full-time regular part-time special project, working 40 hours/week.<br />
Working Conditions:<br />
Physical Demands: 85% Sitting 10% Standing 5% Lifting/Carrying/Pushing/Pulling 25 Pounds<br />
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:<br />
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:<br />
• Working knowledge of the design and production processes.<br />
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.<br />
• Demonstrate proficiency in sketching, computer aided design (CAD), and Adobe Creative Suites<br />
applications (expert knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator).<br />
• Working knowledge of two- and three-dimensional design.<br />
• Ability to work with vendors and freelance designers.<br />
• Ability to work with other designers as team member and other department staff as work group<br />
member.<br />
EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:<br />
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:<br />
• Bachelor’s degree in Exhibit <strong>Design</strong>, Environmental <strong>Design</strong>, Architecture or Industrial <strong>Design</strong> or<br />
equivalent combination of education and experience<br />
• Minimum 1 year of coordination and project management skills.<br />
• Minimum three years experience in exhibit design or similar field.<br />
