MARANA KARAKA STHANA 

Swati: Could u please elaborate on conditions of cancellation of MKS? 

Here comes three methods methods: 

a) jagganath drekkana 

b) see if karaka of bhava is in trikona (Lakshmi) to Surya or Lagna. (note : this can be also 

used in varga-chars with respect to karyabhava). 

c) if graha is exalted then it can be only initially and native is rescued through Visnu blessings 

(exalted grahas are like Visnu) 

[RRS] Could you help me with an analysis on MKS? 

Places(sthana) where significators(karaka) are dying (maraka). There are few rules which are 

important to remember when dealing with marana karaka sthana. As its states it is related to 

avastha namely the person is feeling like dying in relation to bhavas lorded by the graha. 

Jataka Parijata says that to be full this graha must conjoin malefic. We see that when graha 

is strong then person get out from this state and often is very strong. Marana karaka sthana 

when related to malefics can destroy their bad traits and if this is lesson (when ak,amk or bk) 

then person is spiritual so You will see many adepts of spirituality with malefics are in this 

places. Marana karaka sthana is broad concept and can be used from karya bhava in 

divisionals, Arudha, from CK’s and from Lagnesh but the differences must be understood. For 

example if Jupiter is in third from A7 then romances(darapada) or buisness can give setbacks 

to things represented by Jupiter. When dealing with Charakaraka’s then see from which 

“souls” Your mahadasa is in that maraka-position. This aspect will suffer. Very important is 

bhava karaka and when it is in trikona (Sun representing dharma is trikona concept while 

Moon is kendra - support) to either Surya or Lagna then Graha is rescued by light of 

bhavakaraka. As light is needed we remedy this position through Gem of bhavakaraka or 

through Surya worship. However Gem advise must be seen from many other points especially 

Arudhapada. I was taught also that this is not so problematic when MKS is not in Jagganath 

Drekkana (2 Varga’s-Parijataamsa, 3 Varga-Uttamaamsa).

Please can you elaborate re. what is mentioned above: 

“this is not so problematic when MKS is not in Jagganath Drekkana ” - does it mean 

that a planet in mks in rasi chart should not be in mks in Jagannath Drekkana (D-3) 

chart or what?

Dear SS , Namaskar 

If the MKS is present in Jagannath Drekkana then it afflicts also your karma 

directly. Therefore Navamsa (Pushkara) and Drekkana can milden or strengthen 

the effects of Rasi Yogas.

Hi Rafal, 

Very well explained. You have said Jupiter in 3rd from A7 may cause setback to 

“things” represented by Ju due to romance or business. Now does “things” mean the 

natural karakattwa of Jupiter like say children or does it indicate the significance 

based on the houses lorded by Jupiter. In case it is the lordship of houses, then is it 

taken from lagna or from A7. 

For example say someone has virgo lagna and A7 is aries with Jupiter in Mithun. Now 

will Jupiter’s MKS position from A7 destroy 4th house(sagitarius) and 7th house 

(meena) signifacations or it will destroy things represented by taking 9th house (from 

A7 as lagna) and 12th house issues. 

Also you mentioned “When dealing with Charakaraka’s then see from which “souls” 

Your mahadasa is in that maraka-position.” 

So say someone has saturn mahadasa and saturn is placed with rahu which is Amk. So 

from rahu saturn is in MKS. So would that mean the dasa of saturn would indicate 

many difficulties in terms of job and people related to job/office?

what about the retro planets in MKS.Woudnt that make a difference to the dictums of 

MKS avastha?Doesnt retrograde planet would indicate a planet trying to come out of 

MKS avastha which could prove good for the native or is it harmful for the 

significations that the planet holds in the chart.Thanks.

Whole yoga of Guru from Lagna. Lets take my example: Guru is in third (mks) 

from darapada which is a) AK, b) 7L and c) 10L. So while engaging in affairs which

are against Guru philosophy I can endup myself with problems in areas of a) 

spirituality b) public relations and clients problems c) finishing projects 

problems. 

2. If Shani would be AmK then, Rahu is the culprit for jobs-mishaps. See from 

which CK’s the current Dasa is in MKS, that Ck’s will suffer.

Planets in maranakarakasthan: 

Mars - Mesha and Vrscika are not afflicted, but the lord is neecha in both Rasi 

and Navamsa. This will afflict social support, career and marriage attitude (BUT if 

thats first relationship THEN Mars will not harm). But spouse will earn a lot due to 

this placement. 

Mercury - Kanya is occupied by Rahu. Shukra nor Guru are in kona, so native can 

reject Guru/good advise. This cause also stomach issues. But native is

God-fearing due to Rahu being karma-karaka. 

Rahu - This cause family problems and enmity. Rahu is with Upapada, so native is 

confused in relationships. Love is most important factor to sustain this marriage 

and if it will be spoiled then marriage will not last.. 

In Wife’s chart there are no mks planets, but there is strong curse of Shukra 

which will harm the marriage, due to financial and family ties. Nice hamsa 

mahapurusa yoga in the seventh giving excellent attitude in relationships. Wife is 

shorttempered and eyes/feet can suffer.

how we shoul predict the effect when there are 4 planets in marana karaka sthana. 

while i was checking the horoscope of my friend i find 4 planets in MKS in his 

horoscope. he has virgo ascendant and rahu,ketu,venus and mercury are in MKS. his 

birth date is 21st march,1984. birth time: 20:05:46, birth place: 

junagadh,gujarat,india.

what happens when navamsha lord is in MKS ? 

DOB:3 feb 1988, time:14:16, place:rajkot,Gujarat. 

there is taurus ascendant and venus-mercury conjuction in 10th house and it is 

aspected by mars and saturn. moreover mars is in 7th house and in navamsha chart 

moon who is lord of navamsha is in 8th house. is this a sign of divorce or seperation?

rahu dasha finished in 2004. is rahu very malefic in my chart and which area in my life

I have a general doubt. It is said that Rahu in ninth is in marana karaka stana. But you 

have said: “see if karaka of bhava is in trikona (Lakshmi) to Surya or Lagna.” 

This means that Rahu’s marana karaka stana is always cancelled out, since he will 

always be 9th from Lagna? 

Am I missing something here?
