Lawrence Brown is the son of Lawrence and Tawanda Brown. Lawrence has been playing<br />

basketball since he was nine years old and also played football for Cut-Off playground in his younger<br />

years. While at Livadias middle school, Lawrence won basketball most valuable player award. LB, as he<br />

his know to his teammates, has attended Edna <strong>Karr</strong> high school and has been on the boy’s varsity<br />

basketball team since 10 th grade. Lawrence was the recipient of the N.O. Bowl Scholar Athlete of the<br />

Year award for the 20<strong>09</strong> game. After high school he will attend college and study Sports Medicine.<br />

Reginald Brown is the son of Mary Brown and younger brother of Jimmie Winters, Gordon<br />

Winters and Veronica Winters. Reginald has been playing basketball since the age of 6. Reggie won the<br />

MVP award in Biddy Basketball with the New Orleans Raiders and again for Wheeler <strong>High</strong> in Marietta,<br />

GA as the JV MVP. In addition to his basketball skills, Reginald was a member of the Boy Scouts and<br />

cross-country team at Jean Gordan Elementary. After returning from Georgia, Reggie became a <strong>Karr</strong><br />

Cougar and was selected as MVP in the Hall of Fame game against Harrison Central in 2008 and to the<br />

All-Tourney team at the Jesuit Invite in 20<strong>09</strong>. Coach Rob mused that Reggie is one of the most exciting<br />

and graceful players to play at <strong>Karr</strong>. After high school Reggie plans on attending college and majoring in<br />

Computer Technology. Reggie would like to thank his family for supporting his athletic abilities as well as<br />

all of his teachers at <strong>Karr</strong> for their help & support.<br />

Rickey Clark is the son of Sabrina Clark and the brother of Raquel Scott and Rakeem Johnson.<br />

Rickey has been playing basketball since he was 6 years old and as a child he received many awards.<br />

<strong>School</strong> has always been a challenge to Rickey. Early on in his high school career he faced many<br />

challenges, however Rickey’s 10 th grade year saw marked improvement resulting in a 3.0 GPA. Rickey<br />

credits his girlfriend Terron Harrison with his huge turn around in grades. Rickey is still trying to reach his<br />

goal of graduating this May.<br />

Justin Harris is the son of Steven Harris and Valarie Grayson and stepson of Vivian Gammage and<br />

Ron Cooper. He has been on the court since the age of five, playing for Joe Brown, Milne and Goretti to<br />

name just a few. Although Justin didn’t make the junior high basketball team at <strong>Karr</strong> he persevered and<br />

after Katrina finally made <strong>Karr</strong> basketball team. He got the opportunity to play varsity his 9 th grade year<br />

because his coaches saw a lot of promise in him and a year later he was a member of the 2007 State 3A<br />

Championships. He maintains a 2.5 GPA and is a member of the key and robotics club. Also he<br />

participates in summer AAU basketball and participates in many baskets camps. After graduation he<br />

plans to attend college and major in computer science or sports studies. Justin has excelled in both<br />

basketball and life. Upon completion of his college degree, he wants to travel to France where he will<br />

attend culinary art school.


Darren Henry son of Inger and Ernest Roberts Darren started playing basketball at the age<br />

of 8 years old. He played for Harriet Tubman Elementary and also played Middle <strong>School</strong> for O.<br />

Perry Walker. Darren also attends Olive Branch Baptist Church under Pastor Reginald Nichols.<br />

Darren plans on going to college where he going to major in mass communication to one day<br />

become a motivational speaker. He wants to thank his mom and dad for being there for him<br />

when he needed them. Also his brothers Rico, Dalvine and sister Darenique for helping him on<br />

his road to graduation.<br />

Jonathan Thomas is the son of James and Cynthia Thomas. Jonathan, aka “JT”, has been<br />

playing basketball since he was 4 years old. Jonathan won many awards in basketball such as:<br />

first team all district and offensive player of the year for his 10 th grade and 11 th grade years at<br />

Bishop Dunn. Besides athletics, Jonathan participates in the Entrepreneur club at <strong>Karr</strong> and<br />

maintains a 3.0 GPA this year. After high school, Jonathan plans on playing basketball at a<br />

Division I school, major in business education and work toward his real estate license.<br />

Nick “Sky” Walker is the son of Jane Walker and Nick West. Nick’s basketball career<br />

started at the age of 8, but he blossomed at age 10. Desire Street Academy shaped Nick in his<br />

formative school years of grades 7 through 10. After Katrina, Nick decided to return to the<br />

Metro area and choose to attend Edna <strong>Karr</strong> as a junior. He found a starting spot on the varsity<br />

basketball team during the 07-08 season. Nick was chosen second team all-district for 4A during<br />

the 07-08 season. After high school Nick hopes to attend college and major in electrical<br />

engineering while playing basketball. Nick would like to send a shout out to his mom for all the<br />

hard work and patience she has shown him. Nick Walker on Life: “HAN?”
