Director of Public Health Annual Report 2011 Recommendation from 2010 8. Work with local communities and the voluntary sector to develop their capacity and capability to reduce inequalities in health. Action: North Somerset Partnership, NHS and Local Authority 2011 Update Over the past year, a small team of Health Trainers has been recruited by NHS North Somerset and the For All Healthy Living Centre to work directly with people living in areas of Weston- super-Mare. Their role is to provide tailored one to one support to anyone who wants lifestyle advice or signposting on issues such as quitting smoking, exercise and sensible drinking. The service is available through the Health Shop, Health Central, in the centre of Weston super- Mare and the For All Healthy Living Centre in Weston-super-Mare South Ward. NHS North Somerset and North Somerset Council continue to provide support to the For All Healthy Living Centre to strengthen its capacity and capability to tackle local inequalities in health. Working together, North Somerset Council and NHS North Somerset have recruited 100 volunteer health walk leaders from across North Somerset to be trained to lead health walks. 28
