Marc Erbsleben, comes from Focus on the Family and
will be sharing particularly about the topics covered
in our Year 9 No Apologies – The Truth About Life,
Love and Sex program. Marc will also be presenting
sessions to our Middle and Senior students during the
day. Please register your intent to attend at the
College office by Thursday 11th August.
Christmas is coming
Yes it's only July but it's
that time of year again
when we start collecting
items to put in shoe boxes
for Operation Christmas
Child. You can fill up a
whole shoe box on your
own or donate items for us
to pack into boxes
together.
Items such as stationary, small soft toys, tennis balls,
marbles, yo‐yos, hair clips, face washers, sunglasses,
t‐shirt, thongs, cap ……. are great. See the website or
Mrs Blane for more details or a shoebox if you need
one.

Instant crystals—Instant success
A word from Mrs Blane
Welcome back to Semester Two. A special welcome to
the group of new students who have joined us. As we
look towards the second half of the year it is with
anticipation about the way we continue to do new
and exciting things in the College and the opportunity
we have to build on a great Semester One.
We have started the term with a very special
assembly in which our wonderful Middle College
leaders beautifully and sensitively gave a presentation
on some of our Australian Indigenous history. They
accepted on behalf of the College an Aboriginal and a
Torres Straight Islander flag from Gail Belton, a
representative of the local Indigenous community. A
huge thankyou to Miss Drexler for her organisation of
that assembly and to Leon Nehow for his input and
advice. The welcome to country will now be a regular
part of our assemblies and College events.
As we look to our events for the this term we are
excited with our Year 6/7 students as they count
down to their Wakakirri performance next week – we
know you'll rock guys. We also have lots of
opportunities to get involved in reaching out to our
community through the College garage sale, 40 Hour
Famine and Operation Christmas Child amongst other
things.
A couple of reminders: students need to be diligent
with uniform, having their diary, writing in their
homework, being at school and at classes on time,
and ensuring that they are doing their part to make
the College fantastic. As we move towards the end of
the year too we start to look at plans for next year. If
you know of people that are intending to come here
next year encourage them to get their enrolments
booked in early as we will have waiting lists for some
year levels next year.
Fizzy and fun learning
Maths is something we use in our everyday life but
sometimes we need to see it to understand it better.
Year 8 students this week created their own soft drink
concoctions as they learnt about ratios making all
sorts of weird and wonderful flavours. Who says
learning can't be fun?
Year 8 students have been studying rocks, minerals and
crystals in science with Mrs Lovejoy. The experiment
pictured demonstrates growing instant crystals from a
supersaturated solution.
