Celebrates a Year of Joy
I am pleased to present
our fiscal year report on
the philanthropic support
of the Children’s Cancer Association and our powerful investment into the lives of children
and teens facing a serious illness and their family members.
The Children’s Cancer Association didn’t start with a national chapter; it started with my
family who faced our own battle with a serious pediatric illness more than a decade ago.
From that experience came a passionate commitment and focus – for the last 17 years –
to deliver resources, the comfort of friendship, and the healing power of music to families
facing similar challenges.
Last year, CCA delivered programs to nearly 11,000 Oregon and SW Washington children
and family members and provided access to free services 443,477 times across the nation.
Over the past year, we deepened strong partnerships, both locally and nationally, increasing
our impact to children and strengthening our brand. We’ve teamed up with Atlantic records,
Cornerstone/The FADER, Converse, Anomaly, and iHeart Radio to expand our music
medicine experience and power the only program of its kind to kids across the nation, 24/7,
at MyMusicRx.org. We’re working with the medical professionals at Randall Children’s
Hospital at Legacy Emanuel to respond to the critical need to expand music medicine into
their new pediatric emergency department. And, we’re partnering with schools, individuals,
corporations, service organizations, and universities to train, engage, and support a 1,000+
member strong volunteer corps.
As our economy recovers we are dedicated to responding to increased service requests,
managing resources effectively, and producing measurable outcomes. We continue to
diversify our funding streams, leverage in-kind support, and deliver our services more
efficiently than ever before.
Community support to CCA in fiscal year 2012 totaled over $3 million, a 16% increase from
2011. Thank you. These extraordinary contributions support the delivery of immediate
JoyRx to children facing life-threatening illnesses.
I hope you enjoy reading more about the power and impact of your contributions. Most
importantly, I look forward to another year with you by our side, helping to create and share
joy with kids and families when they need it most.
