ACADEMICS AND ALL-AMERICA SELECTIONS<br />
<strong>Missouri</strong> S&T is proud of its academic reputation as one of the top<br />
institutions for science and technology. The results are also shown in<br />
the consistently strong performance of the student-athletes on the<br />
S&T campus.<br />
During the 2008-09 academic year, a total of 204 student-athletes<br />
at S&T finished with a 3.0 or better grade point average. Forty studentathletics<br />
also finished the school year with a 4.0 GPA. The university<br />
also has a high number of selections to the academic teams in the past<br />
year that were released by the Great Lakes Valley Conference, Great<br />
Lakes Football Conference and New South Intercollegiate<br />
Swimming Conference.<br />
A total of <strong>10</strong>1 S&T student-athletes were selected to the GLVC’s All-<br />
Academic team for the 2008-09 school year, the sixth-best total in the<br />
14-team conference. Jordan Henry, an All-America performer for the<br />
men’s track and field team, was named as the winner of the <strong>2009</strong> GLVC<br />
Paragon Award as the conference’s top student-athlete.<br />
In the past year, two S&T student-athletes earned ESPN The<br />
Magazine Academic All-America honors. A total of 12 individuals were<br />
named to their selected Academic All-District teams during the 2008-09<br />
season.<br />
S&T has had 21 Academic All-America selections over the past five<br />
seasons for a total of 31 since 2000, the fourth-best total in NCAA<br />
Division II.<br />
