New Alumni Scholars<br />
Ashley Hicks Maddie Pulido Britani Haynie<br />
Three more top students from Inl<strong>and</strong> Empire high<br />
schools joined the <strong>CSUSB</strong> family this fall as Alumni<br />
Scholars. Ashley Hicks <strong>of</strong> Rancho Cucamonga,<br />
Maddie Pulido <strong>of</strong> Fontana, <strong>and</strong> Britani Haynie <strong>of</strong><br />
Ontario each were chosen to receive the <strong>CSUSB</strong><br />
Alumni Association’s $12,000 merit scholarship.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Alumni Association established its Alumni<br />
Scholars program in 2001 to attract some <strong>of</strong> the<br />
region’s brightest students to the campus <strong>and</strong><br />
encourage them to remain in the area after graduation<br />
from <strong>CSUSB</strong>. Eleven students have received<br />
the scholarship since the program’s inception,<br />

<strong>and</strong> five have graduated from the university to<br />
date. Students considered for the scholarship<br />
have demonstrated academic achievement as<br />
well as leadership in extracurricular activities,<br />
community involvement <strong>and</strong> employment.<br />
Alumni Scholars are required to sustain<br />
a 3.5 GPA <strong>and</strong> full-time status, as well as<br />
contribute a minimum <strong>of</strong> 30 hours <strong>of</strong> service<br />
to the university <strong>and</strong> Alumni Association<br />
through the Student Ambassadors Society.<br />
