Lee Cardon, B.S. biology 1993, is a certified<br />

prosthetist <strong>and</strong> orthotist for Hanger<br />

Prosthetics <strong>and</strong> Orthotics West Inc. at<br />

their Rancho Mirage center. Lee’s loss <strong>of</strong> a<br />

leg in a traffic collision 23 years ago, while<br />

a 19-year-old biology major at <strong>CSUSB</strong>,<br />

opened the door to his career. Lee cycles<br />

about 150 miles a week <strong>and</strong> is training<br />

for the annual Tram Road Challenge in<br />

Palm Springs <strong>and</strong> a triathlon in La Jolla.<br />

<strong>CSUSB</strong>’s coordinator <strong>of</strong> transfer, counseling,<br />

recruitment <strong>and</strong> admissions. Diana is completing<br />

her doctorate program in urban education<br />

senior manager for state government<br />

affairs at Roche Pharmaceuticals. s<br />

Matthew Turner, B.A. economics 1991,<br />

is the chief marketing <strong>of</strong>ficer for Mercury<br />

Payment Systems (MPS) in Durango,<br />

Colo. MPS is a payment processing company<br />

whose platform is integrated to most<br />

major point-<strong>of</strong>-sales systems for restaurants,<br />

groceries <strong>and</strong> specialty retail stores.<br />

Matthew also is a special interest group<br />

coordinator for American Mensa Ltd.<br />

named associate vice president <strong>of</strong> development<br />

<strong>The</strong> Ties that Bond<br />

<strong>The</strong> women <strong>of</strong> the Eta Beta Chapter <strong>of</strong><br />

Alpha Phi celebrated their 20th anniversary<br />

at a weekend event in Palm Springs,<br />

Calif. <strong>The</strong> event took place August 11-13<br />

<strong>and</strong> brought together alumnae <strong>and</strong> collegiate<br />

members <strong>of</strong> the active chapter.<br />

Steve Hickey, B.S. physical education 1993,<br />

has been named the boys basketball <strong>and</strong><br />

golf coach at the new Summit High School<br />

in Fontana. Steve previously coached at<br />

Kaiser High School, <strong>and</strong> was a four-year<br />

member <strong>of</strong> <strong>CSUSB</strong>’s men’s basketball team.<br />

G. Harold Duffey, M.P.A. 1995, was appointed<br />

the chief assistant director for planning,<br />

resources, <strong>and</strong> public works for Yolo County,<br />

located outside Sacramento. Duffey served as<br />

general manager for Sacramento’s integrated<br />

waste division since 2000 <strong>and</strong> previously held<br />

analyst <strong>and</strong> planner positions with the city<br />

1986, <strong>and</strong> was the first Greek organization<br />

on campus. <strong>The</strong> weekend included<br />

a meet-<strong>and</strong>-greet reception, a memorial<br />

brunch for sister Jennifer Lynne Brooks<br />

(USC), a formal event complete with dinner,<br />

dancing <strong>and</strong> a silent auction as well as<br />

lots <strong>of</strong> time to spend with old friends.
