Linger Over Breakfast
In 1836, the Sisters of St. Joseph were welcomed to Carondelet where they opened their
first school in the new world and lived to “serve the dear neighbor without distinction.”
Just as the sisters opened their doors 176 years ago, we again open our doors to the
eighth season of Linger Over Breakfast. Treat yourself to four enriching Saturday
mornings as these programs promise to feed your mind, body and spirit.
Join us four Saturdays in 2012 from 9-11 a.m. in the von Steiger Dining Room at the Sisters of St.
Joseph Motherhouse. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. Enjoy a healthy breakfast and a dynamic program

The Sisters of St. Joseph came to the
OUR MISSION IS TO FORM LOVING

CHURCH, SOCIETY AND ALL
CREATION. WE WORK TOWARD
THIS MISSION THROUGH MINISTRIES
OF PRAYER, DIRECT SERVICE,
CONSCIOUSNESS RAISING AND
SYSTEMIC CHANGE.
Carondelet area in 1836 and have been serving
the dear neighbor ever since. In 1840, the first
building of the motherhouse was constructed
and thus began a series of attached structures
that ended in 1899 with the completion of Holy
Family Chapel.
At the end of the 20th century, the Sisters of
St. Joseph made a commitment to stay in the
Carondelet neighborhood. With this decision
came plans for a major renovation project that
lasted two years. Since early 2002 the sisters
again welcome guests by providing meeting
space and overnight accommodations for
religious and civic groups and by providing
guided tours of the historic building.
The sisters share their motherhouse by
providing a program on four Saturdays in
2012. Spend a few moments to refresh your
body with a nourishing breakfast and also
nourish your spirit with time for presentation,
reflection, conversation and prayer.
