SELECTION PROJECT
Developing a Selection
Procedure using the Logic of
Content Validity
Instructions
1. Purpose
Design a selection procedure for a job of your choice. The procedure should
consist of several selection methods. The selection methods chosen must be
appropriate for the KSA’s to be measured.
2. Process
You must show that the selection procedure that you developed is content valid.
Each selection method included in the process needs to be content valid.
a. Conduct a Job Analysis (JA Questionnaire – attached)
b. Create a Job Description (Sample attached)
c. Follow the steps outlined in the WRIPAC Method – we practiced using
this method in class.
Steps 1-13 in the WRIPAC Method help you determine which KSAs
should be included in your content valid selection procedure and how you
should weight the predictors that you are using.
1. Step 1 – Step 4 => List of rated tasks
2. Step 5 – Step 8 => List of rates KSAs
3. Task X KSA Matrix: Step 9 and Step 10 - Linkages between
tasks and KSAs (Necessity for Performance Worksheet)
4. Step 11 - For each Task/KSA combination calculate the weighted
linkage
5. Create the Summary Task/KSA Linkage and Weights Worksheet
d. Select appropriate KSA measures (Predictors such as Application Blank –
Training and Experience, Bio Data, Ability Tests, Work
Sample/Performance Test, Interview, Personality Test, Integrity Test)
e. Describe each predictor in some detail including scoring formats
f. Create a KSA X Predictor Matrix
g. Which decision-making process will be used – e.g., multiple hurdle,
compensatory) …? What will be the weight of each predictor in the
selection process (you determined weights in the WRIPAC method)?
3. Documentation
a. Write a report on how you developed the selection process following the
EEOC Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection (attached) reporting
requirements for content validity.

. Include the JA, JD, Task List, KSA List, Matrices, all the worksheets,
description of predictors, scoring format.
