Disability services
At QUT, a disability is defined as any impairment, injury or
medical condition, which may affect a student’s ability to
undertake a program of study successfully.
Some, such as physical or sensory disabilities may be
obvious, while others may not be apparent unless disclosed
by the student (e.g. diabetes, epilepsy, dyslexia or mental
health difficulties etc).
A disability may be permanent, short-term or episodic in
nature.
• Temporary or short-term eg broken limbs, glandular fever
• Episodic or permanent eg wheelchair user, psychiatric
condition, learning difficulty, epilepsy
