A GRAND EXPERIENCE
Ever since I was a child I have marveled at
photos of the Grand Canyon in geography and travel
books. The sheer size of this natural wonder, with its
many strata of brilliant colors, always made me want to
see this great place in person. A few years ago, while
vacationing in Arizona, a day trip to the Grand Canyon
became part of the itinerary. I will never forget that very
early morning as we drove into the area. My heart was
racing as we turned each corner, wondering if the
glimpse around the next corner would reveal the wonder
I had so long dreamed to see. As with most visitors to
the Grand Canyon, my hopes were more than fulfilled.
The images of the canyon, seen in real life, are branded
on my memory and imagination forever. No matter how
many times I describe my experience to people who
have never visited this awesome place, I know that my
words will never substitute for their actually seeing it for
themselves.
THE GRANDEST MIRACLE OF THEM ALL
Today we hear the story of “doubting Thomas,”
who announces that he will not believe that Jesus has
risen until he sees it all for himself. Over the years, on
this particular Sunday, we have probably heard that we
are very much like Thomas, not truly believing until we
see things for ourselves. Each week when we gather
around the altar, we are given a chance to see and taste
the very presence of Christ in the Eucharist. Do our
hearts race as we turn the corner of the liturgy when we
prepare to pray the Eucharistic Prayer? We are called to
come to church each and every week to expect a miracle.
And that miracle far surpasses any natural wonder we
will ever see. For here we are given a glimpse, not of a
grand canyon or any other natural wonder, but of the
very kingdom of God. Let any doubts melt away and be
replaced by hopeful anticipation of encountering the
Lord each and every week.

PRAYER FOR POPE BENEDICT XVI
Lord, source of eternal life and truth, give to your
shepherd, Benedict, a spirit of courage and right
judgment, a spirit of knowledge and love.
By governing with fidelity those entrusted to his
care, may he, as successor to the Apostle Peter and
Vicar of Christ, build your Church into a sacrament
of unity, love and peace for all the world. May the
Lord preserve him, give him a long life, make him
blessed upon the earth, and not hand him over to
the power of his enemies. Amen

Homeless Outreach Needs
There is a large gray bin in the north foyer of Holy Trinity
Church which is for ONLY the items listed
below, OR they may be delivered directly to the loading
dock on the west side of the Marian House, 14 West
Bijou Street in downtown Colorado Springs. A
volunteer or staff member will assist in unloading your
donations. Donation hours are Monday through
Saturday from 8:00am until 2:00pm. If you have ANY
QUESTIONS regarding the donation items listed below,

Sons of Benedict XVI:
Searching for God’s Call
As warriors for Jesus, young men are
called to stand firm in the Catholic
faith as they seek to find God’s true
call for their lives. Society gives us so many distractions
and false idols, young people need support and
help to stay true to their faith. All high school and college
age men are invited to join Fr. Jim Williams for
monthly prayer and discussion sessions focused on
hearing and following God’s call. Our first meeting
will be Sunday, March 13 at 6pm. Our goal is to help
all young men develop their spirituality and their ability
to discern God’s will for their lives. Refreshments
will be served at each session following which we will
pray Vespers, explore avenues of God’s call in our
lives, and discuss our journeys of faith. Our sessions
will aid and encourage their search for meaning and
vocation for their lives.

Men's Conference: Men, don't miss it!
The third annual, state-wide, Rocky Mountain Catholic
Men's Conference will be held Saturday May
7th, 2011 here in Colorado Springs at the World Arena
in celebration of our life in Christ. The theme
is "Be a Man of God" , we expect 2000 men to attend
the conference this year. This conference is being
co-sponsored by the Diocese of Colorado Springs,
the Archdiocese of Denver and the Diocese of Pueblo.

GABRIEL PROJECT
Have you seen the signs at Holy
Trinity that offer help to pregnant women
and wondered "what's that all
about?" It is about the Gabriel Project ® ,
a ministry offering spiritual and
emotional support to pregnant women in
our parish and in our community.
Through contact with a volunteer
“Angel,” the mother receives the support she may not be
receiving from anyone else in her life. We provide a
loving listening ear and offer community resources as
well as sharing God’s love and concern for the mother.
The Gabriel Project ® meets every other month both to
recruit additional Angels and to keep current Angels
prepared for calls from new mothers. Our next meeting
is Saturday, May 14, at 9:30 in the Hope House. Please
join us to learn more about this special ministry.

Does the Joy of Easter Seem Far
Away? For those who have suffered a
loss or who are going through a
difficult time, Easter can be a time of
painful loneliness and emptiness. If
you are smiling on the outside, but full
of pain on the inside and the joy of Easter seems far away,
help is available. Our Stephen Ministers are ready to
provide confidential, one-to-one, Christian care. They
will listen, care, encourage, and pray with and for you.
Stephen Ministers have been specially trained to meet
your emotional and spiritual needs. Male Stephen
Ministers are always matched with men, and female Stephen
Ministers are matched with women. If you or someone
you know is hurting, find out more about Stephen
Ministry by talking with one of our Stephen

SENIOR DINNER
May 15
Dinner will be held May 15 from
1:00pm to 2:30pm in the cafeteria.

WOMAN’S STORY
SPIRITUALITY GROUP
Through the contemplative praying of
the Scriptures, known as Lectio Divina,
this group will explore the text of the
Wedding at Cana.
We will go beyond the surface of
words, endeavoring our sprits to connect with the unspoken
dynamic of how this Scripture reflects the fully human,
fully divine nature of Jesus, along with the unwavering
vigilant wisdom and holy expectation of His Jewish
mother, Mary. We will observe and experience the
underlying significance of respect and obedience in this
interaction between Jesus and His mother.

proclaimed: “You who are Jews, indeed all of you staying in
Jerusalem. Let this be known to you, and listen to my words. You
who are Israelites, hear these words. Jesus the Nazarene was a
man commended to you by God with mighty deeds, wonders, and
signs, which God worked through him in your midst, as you
yourselves know. This man, delivered up by the set plan and
foreknowledge of God, you killed, using lawless men to crucify him.
But God raised him up, releasing him from the throes of death,

by Mr. & Mrs. Hrovat with our RE Children in the Church. They begin with the May Crowning
following the 8am Mass at the grotto area in front of the Church. Afterwards, they will proceed into the
Church for the Rosary in thanksgiving for a successful year.
A HUGE THANK YOU to all our Catechists and teacher aides
who participated in our Children, Youth and Adult training. And a special
recognition to Rebecca Longoria, our Religious Education Coordinator who
keeps everything organized and who is now our Faith Formation representative
to our Pastoral Council and also to Bev Tursich who brings so many people
to our Catholic Faith and sits on the Council as well.
The 2011-2012 Season of Formation begins again September 11, 2011. Registration
will take place the last two weekends in August.

The New Evangelization
I am proud to present a new educational opportunity
to Holy Trinity called Lighthouse Catholic Media, a
practical and effective program to help Catholics
know their Faith . . . to keep their Faith!
We all live busy, busy lives. Finding the time to
come to church to learn about our Faith is difficult.
But now, we are able to meet you where you are!
Wherever you have a CD player available to you, in
the car or at home, you can deepen your understanding
and love for the Faith. Soon you will see a display
stand in the south foyer of the church offering
nine different CDs and three different brochures.
These feature some of the most inspiring Catholic
speakers -- bishops, priests, deacons and eminent
Catholic lay men and women.
The CDs and brochure will be available after every
Mass. We ask for a donation of $3.00 per CD and
$.50 per brochure so that we may continue this program.
When these are gone -- they're gone. And a
new set with different titles and speakers will be ordered.
I encourage you to take advantage of this
wonderful opportunity!

Sacramental Ministry
Baptisms: Parents and at least one godparent must
be registered in a parish prior to preparation for the
Sacrament. Parents and godparents need to attend
baptismal preparation classes. Classes are held 3rd
Wed. of odd months at 6:30pm. Contact the parish
office for complete information.
Marriage: All engaged couples participate in the
Marriage Preparation Program (a policy of the Diocese
of Colorado Springs). Contact the parish office
AT LEAST ONE YEAR IN ADVANCE of your
planned marriage to begin preparation.
Sacrament of the Sick/Emergencies: When the parish
office is closed, call 963-5036. Calls are monitored
on a regular basis.
Funerals: Please call the parish office before
scheduling date and time with a funeral home. The
parish office schedules presiders, musicians, and
servers in consultation with family members.
