Jog-A-Thon
Hanmer’s 7th annual Jog-A-Thon will be on Friday, October 12th (rain date:
Wednesday, Oct. 17th). Every class will have the opportunity to run, jog, or walk outside for 25-
30 minutes. The event is a great way for our school to promote health and wellness through
physical activity, and it is also a valuable fundraiser. Students who have money to donate
should bring it to the office as soon as possible. Please make sure that the students’ and the
teachers’ names are on the envelope. All checks should be made payable to the Hanmer PTO.
If you have any questions about the event, please contact Mr. Diaz. If you would like to
volunteer, please contact Mr. Diaz or the PTO event coordinators: Kristine Lisella at 860-604-
172 and Deb O’Leary at 860-257-3039. We are all looking forward to a fun and exciting day!
Town-Wide Cross Country Run
The Town-Wide Cross Country Run, sponsored by the Wethersfield Physical
Education teachers, will be held on Thursday, October 4th, at Wethersfield High School. The
run will begin at 3:45 PM. All participants should arrive by 3:35 PM, and they are requested to
wear their school colors (navy blue & white).
Students in grades 4 through 6 will have the opportunity to run the one-mile course at
the high school. The event is organized as a developmentally appropriate activity that
reinforces much of the students’ current learning in physical education. Please encourage your
child to be a part of this fun afternoon.
Students who are interested in running need to fill out and return their permission slips to
Mr. Diaz by the day of the event. Transportation to and from the high school is the responsibility
of the parent or guardian. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Diaz.
