4. MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS<br />

4.1 General<br />

4.1.1 All mechanical equipment and components shall be designed<br />

and supplied in accordance with the requirements in this<br />

section and in Section S11 00 50, Basic Mechanical<br />

Requirements.<br />

4.1.2 All materials and components used to construct the<br />

equipment shall be new and free of defects.<br />

4.1.3 Imperial Units shall be used for all dimensions and<br />

physical units.<br />

4.2 Equipment Vibration<br />

4.2.1 The general requirements are set forth in Section S01 80<br />

15.19, General Noise & Vibration.<br />

4.3 Materials of Construction<br />

4.3.1 Materials of construction shall be compatible with the<br />

process medium and operating environment. All equipment<br />

components shall be designed such that corrosion and wear<br />

are minimized.<br />

4.3.2 All materials specified herein shall be reviewed for<br />

corrosion and erosion resistance with applicable allowances<br />

made where required. Wear resistant liners shall be used<br />

especially at the feed and discharge of the elevator.<br />

4.3.3 All materials shall be new, of the highest quality, type<br />

and grade specified.<br />

4.3.4 The boot section of all bucket elevators shall be 316L<br />

stainless steel. All other casing elements shall be mild<br />

steel.<br />

4.3.5 The buckets as well as the inlet and discharge of the Dried<br />

Product <strong>Bucket</strong> Elevator, the Compaction Plant Feed <strong>Bucket</strong><br />

Elevator and the Granular Coarse Product <strong>Bucket</strong> Elevator<br />

shall be fabricated from Corten A steel. On the Product<br />

<strong>Bucket</strong> Elevator and the Polishing Screen Feed <strong>Bucket</strong><br />

Elevator, these parts may be fabricated from mild steel.<br />

4.3.6 All buckets shall have a wear lip and be reinforced with a<br />

3 mm thick metal strip, fully welded on both sides to<br />

resist filling impact load.<br />
