NOTES FROM THE DESK OF THE P.R.A. AND
TRAVELS ON THE "REBEKAH TRAIL:'
Already we are into the year 2006; time has seemed to move
quickly since our thoughts were about the "New Millennium"!
During my travels east to west and north to south in Pennsylvania
since being Rebekah Assembly President, it has been a pleasure to
note interesting names of villages and towns such as Eighty-Four,
Galilee, Harmony, Melon, Mehoopany, Mildred, Nicetown, Ono,
Rew, Walnut, Woolrich and Zionhill. Favorite scenic and historic
memories include Allegheny National Forest, "Little Grand Canyon"
of Pennsylvania, Route 6 in October, Altoona's Horseshoe
Curve National Landmark, Schnecksville Game Preserve,
FaLlingwater and Kentuck Knob designed by Frank Lloyd Wright
near Ohiopyle, the Memorial at Shanksville, and the majestic/
stately Courthouse Bldg. in Washington, P A. Now for the true
reason for being President of the Rebekah Assembly of PA.
Sightseeing is the bonus!!
The Rebekah Assembly of Pennsylvania By-Laws state that
the President is committed to the general supervision and care of the
Rebekah Lodges working under the Jurisdiction of the Rebekah
Assembly of Pennsylvania. The word "care" for this term of office
means stressing the power of positive thinking and striving to serve
others. When reviewing the projects and benevolent activities listed
by Lodges, where to date Official Visitations have been made, there
were more than twenty categories of Serving to Serve Others.
Quality work on behalf of Rebekah-Oddfellowship is evident.
Secretary Jill F. Schlosser of Lady Lillie Best #222 summarized the
Lodge's goal in these words, "We give emotional support to each
other and work together to help each other ...; nothing can be more
satisfying and rewarding." Rebekah lodges do begin preparing the
tri-fold for Session 2006 - articles, pictures, listing charter members,
giving statement of origin/history of your lodge's name.
