Distinguished Lifetime Service Award
•Dr. K-P Schwartz: The 2 nd Head of the
Department of Geomatics Engineering, Dr.
Schwartz provided leadership and ensured
that the Department continued to prosper in
difficult times. A faculty member since July 1,
1982, Dr. Schwartz is currently a Professor
Emeritus in Geomatics Engineering.
Collaborative Thinking
Dr. L.J. Hahn, recipient of the inaugural Distinguished Collaborator
Award, accepts the award from SSE Dean, S.C. Wirasinghe, and Dr.
Rangaraj Rangayyan
Engineering Excellence
In June, the Schulich School of Engineering Faculty
Excellence Awards were handed out. This year the
“Distinguished Collaborator Award” and “Graduate
Education Awards” were added to the list of honours.

Distinguished Collaborator Award
•Dr. L.J. Hahn: A Senior Consulting Medical
Physicist in the Department of Diagnostic
Imaging since 1987, Dr. Hahn has been an
Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department
of Electrical and Computer Engineering since
1998.
New Director of
Advancement
In September, Vincent Duckworth joined the
Dean’s Office as the new Director of
Advancement for the Schulich School of
Engineering.
Vincent has over ten years of experience in
educational advancement recently serving as
the Executive Director of Development and
Alumni Affairs for the Faculty of Medicine and
Dentistry at the University of Alberta.
Additionally, Vincent led a two-year $14 million
fundraising campaign which closed at $24
million for NAIT. Vincent began his fundraising
career as the Director of Development and
Alumni Relations for the Faculty of Engineering
at the University of Alberta.
Vincent has his professional fundraising
credential, CFRE, and holds a B.Sc. in
Mechanical Engineering from the University of
Alberta.

Donna Geekie Service Award
•Heather Herring: Among numerous other initiatives, one of
Heather’s hallmarks was her integral role in the construction
of the CCIT.
•Ella Gee: Ella has provided 20 years of dedicated service
to the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department, and
has been the department’s Graduate Studies Administrator
for 15 of those years.
