GLEN C. SCHMIDTPresident & Chief Executive OfficerLaricina Energy Ltd.Mr. Schmidt has been President andChief Executive Officer for LaricinaEnergy Ltd. since November 2005.Glen has more than 28 years of oiland gas experience with more than 18years at the executive level. Prior to hiscurrent position he was President, ChiefExecutive Officer and director of DeerCreek Energy Limited since 2001.Formerly, Mr. Schmidt was Presidentof Torex Resources Ltd. and PioneerNatural Resources Canada Inc. and waspreviously the Vice President Canadaat Chauvco Resources Ltd. and VicePresident Production and Engineeringat Mark Resources Inc. Glen is also amember of the board of governors forthe Canadian Association of PetroleumProducers (CAPP), Past Chairman ofthe In Situ Oil Sands Alliance (IOSA),and a director for INHOUSE AttainableHousing Society and ElkhornResources Inc.Mr. Schmidt holds both a Master ofBusiness Administration and Bachelorof Science in Chemical Engineering(with Distinction) from the Universityof Calgary and is a member of theAssociation of Professional Engineers,Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta.


ROBYN MAE PAULRobyn Paul is completing her fourth and final year in manufacturing engineering witha biomedical specialization at the Schulich School of Engineering, after completing aone-year internship working at Wartsila in Winterthur, Switzerland. Robyn is active asa leader both within the school and in the community. She represents her classmatesas VP, Manufacturing, with the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Student’sSociety, and is the Yearbook Director for the engineering school, President of theTELUS World of Science Student Chapter, and she volunteers with Safewalk and Intothe Streets. In addition, Robyn salsa dances with the Student Dance Club, trains withthe University Triathlon Club and is part of a local yoga studio. In 2010/2011 shewas the recipient of the John Jacobson Engineering Leadership Award, the Mike WardEngineering Internship Prize, the Engineering Internship Merit Awards, and theGienow Advanced Manufacturing Undergraduate Scholarship.AGNES SOOSAgnes Soos is a fourth year chemical engineering <strong>student</strong>, specializing in biomedicalengineering. During the course of her undergraduate studies, Agnes participatedin several competitions, placing first at both the Western and Canadian EngineeringCompetitions in the category of Team Design in 2009.She has also undertaken bioengineering research as an undergraduate <strong>student</strong> at theUniversity of Calgary (2009) and the University of Waterloo (2010). Her creativityand artistic abilities are applied in roles such as hallway decor team for EngineeringWeek, Social and Division Council Representative at the Waterloo CooperativeResidence Inc., and <strong>student</strong> member on the Schulich Open House OrganizingCommittee. In 2009/2010 she was the award recipient of the Edward WichertUndergraduate Scholarship.


KIM STURGESSChief Executive OfficerAlberta WaterSMARTMs. Sturgess is the founder and CEO ofAlberta WaterSMART, a not-for-profitwater management services organization.Over the last six years, Kim hasbeen involved in the development ofwater projects and systems for severalcompanies, as well as policy developmentfor industrial and government clients.Ms. Sturgess has also served on theboard of the Alberta Water Counciland has participated in many forums onwater management. As the CEOof several technology based companies,Kim has extensive experience intechnology start-ups and technologymanagement, as well as in oil and gas,pipelines, and industrial productsand services.In addition to serving on the boards ofher own companies, Kim serves on theboards of CCI Thermal Technologiesin Edmonton, Pressure PipelineInspection Company in Toronto, theCalgary Airport Authority, AlbertaInnovates: Energy and EnvironmentSolutions, and the Canadian Academyof Engineering.Formerly Ms. Sturgess served as adirector of APEGGA, AlbertaEconomic Development Authority,the Canadian Chamber of Commerce,the National Research Council, andQueen’s University.

This program is a valuablepartnership between the engineering school and industry partners. The goalof the program is to build and maintain a world class engineering school thatwill exceed society’s expectations and needs for engineering education, researchand service. Members of Engineering Associates Program meet for a variety ofprofessional development and social activities such as monthly breakfast meetings,the Student Excellence Awards, the Dean’s Holiday Reception, and special events.The Engineering Associates Program also makes up the Schulich School ofEngineering’s senior industry advisory body. The program is in its 20th year.
