We welcome Nick Hudson as our guest musician this morning. Nick graduated from Carnegie Mellon with a degree in Bagpipe Performance and Music Education. Nick teaches individuals and local pipe bands as well as playing pipes in the Pittsburgh area. Bagpipes may have originated as early as the 1 st century, now the national instrument of Scotland. A set of bagpipes consists of an air supply, a bag, a chanter (played with the fingers to produce the melody), and drone (pipe or pipes producing a sustained pitch). As you listen, imagine these instruments played en masse for military use and formal occasions. The kilt Nick is wearing is the "Ancient Carnegie" Tartan, which is a "sub-tartan" of the MacDonald clan. Please complete the white VISITOR card in the pew for first-time visitors. Please be understanding and supportive of our young families as they seek to “parent in the pews.” Women’s Ministry Bringing Ministry HOME is the topic for our Seminar Saturday/Indoor Picnic June 23, 10 AM–1 PM, in the activity area. Amy De Bruin, Ann Enzman, Chris Groff and Steph Kimble will share their experiences of opening their homes and lives to the ministry of adoption. For our annual indoor picnic, please bring: last name A–E, crackers or bread; F–N, dessert; and O–Z, salad. To help us plan, please sign up on your blue slip or at the registration counter. Child care through aged 3 years will be available, depending upon demand. Men’s Paintball Men & boys (ages 13 & up) paintball fun is planned for Saturday, July 14, 10 AM–4 PM, at SureShot Paintball (785.5511, www.sureshotpb.com). Cost of $35 includes paintball gun, goggles and 2–3 hours of paintballs. Register and pay online, at the registration counter, or mail a check payable to the church (ATTN: Tucker York). The Church at Prayer meets at 6 PM in Room 126, until 6:45 PM. Activity area, 6 PM: Full-Course Dinner. This week, the kitchen staff prepares meatloaf ($5/adult, families with children 6–11, $12). Tell us the number coming on your blue slip or call the office by Monday AM, June 18. Sign your blue slip with a gluten-free meal request. A gluten-free meal will be provided only with a weekly request. Reformation Room 148, 7–8 PM, Summer Nights Series continues with elder Paul Rogers playing guitar and presenting several new songs he composed as well as new tunes for some hymns. Be inspired by psalms, hymns and spiritual songs—with opportunity to sing-along. Wednesday Youth Groups, 7–8 PM: Youth groups start in Room LL9. Students completing 6th through 12th grade are welcome to enjoy games, hear testimonies from their peers and discuss God’s Word together. Wednesday Children’s Programs, 7–8 PM: Children ages 4 through completed Grade 5 meet in Room 119 for supervised activities and Bible lessons. Nursery is provided for infants through aged 3 in Room 111. A Midsummer Night’s Fellowship Couples and singles of all ages, join a supper for 8 Friday, July 13. Various host homes will be available. Indicate interest on your blue slip. Parents should arrange their own childcare to encourage adult fellowship.
