Here’s what we found
CFCM was launched in 2007 as a Canadian competitor to Coatings
Magazine. Now that we’re almost halfway through 2008 we decided to
see who is receiving CFCM, as well as American publications in the field.
The Rogers Business & Professional Research Group completed this
research study in May 2008, led by former Ipsos Canada Vice-President
Tricia Benn. Ms. Benn is currently Director of Research for the Rogers
Business & Professional Research Group.
The study was concluded with 161 completed surveys by readers of
Coatings Magazine. It is not surprising that non-Canadian publications do
not reach this market effectively. However, the scores for CFCM, a
Canadian publication, indicate that the true decision makers in this
market identified through the nearly 30 years of circulation development
of Coatings Magazine must rely on the proven reach of Coatings
Magazine to stay up-to-date. Coatings remains the only Canadian
magazine with its circulation independently audited by industry auditors
such as BPA or ABC. In fact, there has been no indication yet that CFCM
intends to try to qualify to audit its circulation.
Digital Print Ad Material Requirements
a) PDF/X-1a, or a generic PDF created to Rogers Publishing
specifications,on a Macintosh formatted CD-ROM, with a MAC standards
proof. Check www.rogersdigitalads.com, or contact Production Manager,
for details. Every attempt is made to verify the supplied file to the
supplied proof, however Rogers Publishing does not accept responsibility
for material content, or colour trapping. Production charges apply for
material not to spec or for alterations. Ad Designers/Suppliers are
recommended to visit www.rogersdigitalads.com to avoid quality
control problems.
b) Ad Material should be directed to Ina Mackenzie, Production Manager,
Coatings Magazine, 7th Floor, 1 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto, ON M4Y
2Y5 Canada 416-764-1543. Files should NOT be sent electronically (ftp
or email) without prior consultations with the Production Manager.
Please back up electronic files before sending.
c) For any questions about preparing or sending ad material using
Coatings Magazine specifications, please contact your Sales
Representative. Or contact Ina Mackenzie, Production Manager, at
416-764-1684, ina.mackenzie@rci.rogers.com
d) To send ad material via FTP site, consult with Production Manager or
Sales Representative. FTP info is:
host: rogersftp.rnm.ca
user ID: wonlyftp2
password: wa2Rec6U
Email Ina Mackenzie, Production Manager of Coatings Magazine
(ina.mackenzie@rci.rogers.com) the file name. A colour proof is still
highly recommended to ensure colour quality, so courier is still
recommended for that. Another method to send ad materials is the Ad
Transport system, which can be found at www.rogersdigitalads.com.
Click on Ad Transport in the left menu. You can then download the
application that lets you drop your file onto an icon that will
automatically send the file to us. You and our Production Manager
receive a confirmation that the file was received and it is in our system.
All the instructions are above the download link “How to send a file…”
DO NOT close the program window after you click "Apply". The ad will
start uploading to our ftp site but the screen will switch back to the the
original window. Do not close that window until you see at the bottom
left hand corner that it says "100% sent" and "Disconnecting". Many
people who use this program close out of the window before the file
finishes uploading to our ftp server, and this causes the ad to not
upload and we will not receive it on our end. If the file has been sent
successfully, you will receive a confirmatione-mail within the hour letting
you know. Another method to send ad material is on a CD with colour
proof. Emailing ad material is discouraged because graphic changes can
occur during the email process.
