The epic journey that is Wagner’s Ring
cycle can now be your journey too.
In November and December of 2013,
Opera Australia will present three full
cycles of the Ring as its creator
intended - each including the four
operas of the series over the course
of eight days.
Opera Australia invites you on a special
journey to Melbourne to experience
this genuinely Australian Ring.
Acclaimed Australian director,
Neil Armfield, will lead an inspired
international cast of outstanding
Wagnerian artists, putting his own,
uniquely Australian stamp on this
spectacular classic.
International stars of renown including
Susan Bullock (UK), Gary Lehman (USA),
Juha Uusitalo (Finland), Stuart Skelton
(Aus), John Wegner (Aus), Richard
Berkeley-Steele (UK) will join some
of Australia’s finest singers including
Deborah Humble, Miriam Gordon-
Stewart, Daniel Sumegi, Anke Höppner,
Elizabeth Campbell, Warwick Fyfe, Taryn
Fiebig, Merlyn Quaife and Barry Ryan
to form a cast of epic proportions.
Under the baton of Richard Mills
will be the Melbourne Ring Orchestra,
which will consist of players from
Orchestra Victoria, the Australian
Opera and Ballet Orchestra as well
as special guest musicians from
other major orchestras around
Australia and abroad.

Much like Wagner’s seminal
masterpiece, exploring Melbourne
is both an immense and immersive
adventure. Each cycle spans eight
days, so you can experience the rich
variety of wonders that Melbourne
has to offer.
Consistently crowned the world’s most

boulevards and cobblestone laneways
brimming with some of Australia’s most
celebrated galleries, boutiques and food
