The Transport Accident Commission (TAC) was established and is governed by the Transport Accident Act 1986. The TAC administers a comprehensive no-fault compensation scheme
for Victorians who are injured or die as a result of a transport accident. Benefits may include the payment of hospital, medical and rehabilitation expenses as well as income support.
Additional compensation may be available through common law in cases of serious injury or death.
