<strong>Dance</strong><br />

Bachelor <strong>of</strong> <strong>Arts</strong><br />

B.A. in <strong>Dance</strong><br />

The dance major helps students develop in several areas: technical pr<strong>of</strong>iciency, historical <strong>and</strong> cultural perspectives,<br />

personal artistry, <strong>and</strong> production skills. The major also provides students with an underst<strong>and</strong>ing <strong>of</strong> how dance fits into a larger<br />

global context through courses in dance history, global perspectives on dance, <strong>and</strong> contemporary dance techniques.<br />

Students in the major learn the behind-the-scenes process <strong>of</strong> putting a show together in a technical theatre class <strong>and</strong> get<br />

the opportunity to develop their own unique voice as artists in choreography <strong>and</strong> dance composition courses. The dance<br />

major prepares graduates for careers in dance performance, choreography, dance education, <strong>and</strong> advanced study in a<br />

graduate program.<br />
