In a study researching how the environment affects a performer’s movement qualities, several dancers<br />
were asked to improvise in uncomfortable, outdoor locations. The study proved that in every location<br />
a performer dances, he or she changes his or her movement patterns, posture, <strong>and</strong> weight within the<br />
improvisation.<br />

Choreographer Bios<br />
Rachel Belmont is a senior dance major, pursuing a theatre minor, at the Farquhar <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />
<strong>Sciences</strong>. She has been dancing for 19 years. By the age <strong>of</strong> 15, she was dancing for a pr<strong>of</strong>essional hiphop<br />
company, Pfuzion Dance Theater, <strong>and</strong> is now on the board <strong>of</strong> directors for the nonpr<strong>of</strong>it Pablo Malco<br />
Foundation. Belmont is a member <strong>of</strong> a pr<strong>of</strong>essional modern dance company, Body <strong>and</strong> Soul Dance Theatre.<br />
In addition, she has danced in several music videos, movies, artist tours, <strong>and</strong> commercials, as well as<br />
worked with celebrities including DJ Ian Carey, T-Vice, Casely, Sal Richards, M<strong>and</strong>y Ventrice, <strong>and</strong> Video<br />
Music Award-winning director Eddie Enciu. After graduation, she plans to direct music videos <strong>and</strong> continue<br />
with her dance journey. “Motivation is the key, <strong>and</strong> passion is the drive.” –Rachel Belmont<br />
Sherelyn Gonzalez is a senior dance major, pursing a theatre minor, at the Farquhar <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Arts</strong><br />
<strong>and</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong>. Though she danced throughout her middle <strong>and</strong> high school years, it wasn’t until Gonzalez<br />
began college that she discovered her passion for dance. She began at Broward <strong>College</strong> where she studied<br />
under Linda Strickl<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> Erin St John, <strong>and</strong> soon received an Associates <strong>of</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> degree in Dance before<br />
transferring to NSU. She has performed in various productions at the college under the guidance <strong>of</strong><br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essors Elana Lanczi, Daniela Wancier, <strong>and</strong> Katie Sopoci Drake. Gonzalez participated in an internship<br />
with the dance department <strong>of</strong> the NSU’s University School. She was appointed assistant choreographer<br />
in the university’s production <strong>of</strong> Ruthless! The Musical <strong>and</strong> is currently the events coordinator <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Nova</strong><br />
Dance Society. She was the recipient <strong>of</strong> the 2010 Female Dancer <strong>of</strong> the Year Award. Outside <strong>of</strong> college,<br />
Gonzalez is the founder <strong>of</strong> Dance with Me, a Christian dance program that reaches out to at-risk youth<br />
<strong>and</strong> specializes in liturgical dance. She is currently the leader <strong>and</strong> choreographer <strong>of</strong> Genesis Praise Dance<br />
Ministry <strong>of</strong> New Hope World Outreach. In 2007, she was given the opportunity to travel to Zambia, Africa,<br />
where she danced at various conferences. She has also traveled to Arkansas <strong>and</strong> Georgia, dancing in both<br />
solo <strong>and</strong> group productions at various church conferences <strong>and</strong> celebrations. She is truly passionate about<br />
dance <strong>and</strong> not only sees it as a form <strong>of</strong> art, but as a way to influence <strong>and</strong> change the lives <strong>of</strong> others. She<br />
believes that dance is not only a movement, but a voice.<br />
Erika Del Pozo is a senior dance major at the Farquhar <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong>. She began her training<br />
dancing ballet, tap, <strong>and</strong> jazz <strong>and</strong> later discovered Middle Eastern dance. At the start <strong>of</strong> her freshman year<br />
<strong>of</strong> college at Florida International University, Del Pozo studied ballet under Whitney Shulman <strong>and</strong> Paul<br />
Vitali <strong>and</strong> modern dance under Heather Maloney. Erika also had studied classical ballet under former<br />
Cuban National Ballet soloist Gypsy Hall. In 2009, Del Pozo began studying at Vladimir Issaev’s School<br />
<strong>of</strong> Classical Ballet <strong>and</strong> performed in Don Quixote. Since her arrival at NSU, Erika has won the 2010 Black<br />
Box Award for Best Student Choreographer <strong>and</strong> has earned the Dean’s List for two semesters. Her plans<br />
include earning a master’s degree in occupational therapy. She feels very fortunate to have been a part <strong>of</strong><br />
the university’s dance program.<br />
Amy Peters is a junior dance major at the Farquhar <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong>. She has also studied dance<br />
at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Peters started learning dance at the University Center for the Performing<br />
<strong>Arts</strong> in 2007. She has studied with Eileen Hebron, Jin Young Lee, Kathleen Klein, Gaynelle Gosselin, Elana<br />
Lanczi, Katie Sopoci Drake, Daniela Wancier, <strong>and</strong> choreographer Heather Maloney. Peters enjoyed being a<br />

part <strong>of</strong> Florida’s first Waterways Dance Project. She is an honoree recipient <strong>of</strong> the scholarship grant award<br />
for dance <strong>and</strong> has earned the Dean’s List. She has also performed in the Fort Lauderdale Christmas Pageant<br />
for three years, working with Christy <strong>and</strong> Jeff Crevier.<br />
Nathalie Rengel is a senior dance major at the Farquhar <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong>. She is pursuing a<br />
minor in business administration. Rengel is also the vice president <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Nova</strong> Dance Society. Her passion<br />
for dance started at a very young age. Her formal dance education began at Miami Dade <strong>College</strong>, where<br />
she followed the teachings <strong>of</strong> Diane Brownholtz <strong>and</strong> Delma Iles, among other pr<strong>of</strong>essors. Rengel has also<br />
trained at various dance studios including In Motion, Contemporary Dance Company, Ballet Conservatory,<br />
<strong>and</strong> University Center, as well as at pr<strong>of</strong>essional workshops at New World School <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Arts</strong>. Rengel spent a<br />
summer in New York City attending the Alvin Ailey Dance Company, Peridance Center, <strong>and</strong> Broadway Center.<br />
She performed in different choreographies directed by the college’s dance faculty <strong>and</strong> guest choreographers<br />
including Elana Lanczi, Katie Sopoci Drake, Chetachi Egwu, <strong>and</strong> Josee Garant. Rengel has also participated<br />
<strong>and</strong> assisted in the production <strong>of</strong> the 2011 Florida Waterways Dance Project. One <strong>of</strong> her latest performance<br />
was at the Here <strong>and</strong> Now Festival at the Adrianne Arsht Center under the direction <strong>of</strong> Letty Bassart. Rengel’s<br />
goal is to exp<strong>and</strong> the arts in South Florida by teaching <strong>and</strong> opening her own dance studio.<br />
Sabrina Talamo is a senior double-major in dance <strong>and</strong> communication studies at the Farquhar <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Arts</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong>. She is the president <strong>and</strong> founder <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Nova</strong> Dance Society <strong>and</strong> a member <strong>of</strong> Alpha Chi<br />
National Honor Society <strong>and</strong> Lambda Pi Eta, the communication studies honor society. She began dancing<br />
ballet <strong>and</strong> jazz at age 3 <strong>and</strong> continued to perform on her high school dance team, through which she<br />
participated in state <strong>and</strong> national competitions throughout Florida. In college, Talamo began studying<br />
modern dance <strong>and</strong> discovered her passion for composition <strong>and</strong> choreography. She has performed in various<br />
productions at the college <strong>and</strong> worked with choreographers Josee Garant, Elana Lanczi, Chetachi Egwu,<br />
Daniela Wancier, <strong>and</strong> Katie Sopoci Drake. Talamo was the recipient <strong>of</strong> the New Star Dance Award <strong>and</strong> the<br />
Lifetime Star Award at NSU. She is also a contributing writer for NSU’s The Current student newspaper, an<br />
editor for Digressions student literary magazine, <strong>and</strong> a choreographer for the NSU Vocal Ensemble. She has<br />
performed in Ian Carey’s music video “Let Loose,” <strong>and</strong> has been featured in NSU commercials. In 2010,<br />
she became a company member <strong>of</strong> Body & Soul Dance Theatre. She hopes to pursue a Master <strong>of</strong> Fine <strong>Arts</strong><br />
degree in Dance <strong>and</strong> Writing.<br />
<strong>Nova</strong> Lishon-Savarino is a senior at the Farquhar <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong>. In 2011, she will graduate<br />
with a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science degree in Biology, a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> degree in Dance, <strong>and</strong> three minors: marine<br />
microbiology, psychology, <strong>and</strong> theatre. Lishon-Savarino is an Honors student <strong>and</strong> has earned the Dean’s<br />
List. She has had formal dance training for more than 16 years <strong>and</strong> has had formal training in ballet<br />
including pointe, jazz, hip-hop, modern, contemporary, lyrical, improvisation, <strong>and</strong> contact improvisation.<br />
She is an instructor at Ballet Elite Dance Studio <strong>and</strong> has trained there for 12 years, performing in shows,<br />
festivals, <strong>and</strong> charity benefits. Lishon-Savarino has performed with the Fort Lauderdale Ballet Classique<br />
<strong>and</strong> the Goldcoast Opera. She has participated in many shows <strong>and</strong> events at the university, working on<br />
stage <strong>and</strong> behind the scenes. She is also a competitive figure skater <strong>and</strong> a three-time Gold Medalist at the<br />
Florida State Championships.<br />

Jody-Ann Henry is a senior theatre major, pursuing minors in arts administration <strong>and</strong> media<br />
studies, at the Farquhar <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong>. She is a graduate <strong>of</strong> New World School<br />
<strong>of</strong> the <strong>Arts</strong> High School. She interned with Mosaic Theatre <strong>and</strong> the Promethean Theatre during<br />
their production <strong>of</strong> Dumb Show by Joe Penhall. Henry is making her directing debut with Traces<br />
<strong>of</strong> Memory <strong>and</strong> Mrs. Jacob Andersen by Ann Weuhler. Her previous credits include The Rimers <strong>of</strong><br />
Eldritch (Evelyn), Ladies <strong>of</strong> AP Present (Ms. in Your Face), H<strong>and</strong>-Picked (Ava Cadoo), Messiah<br />
(Mary), I’m Gonna Do Your Will (Stacy), He Came (Woman), Great Expectation (Mother), <strong>and</strong><br />
Unconditional Love (Ebony). Henry’s NSU Theatre credits include The Dining Room (Ensemble),<br />
Baby, the musical (Doctor), Dead Man Walking (Sister Colleen), Po<strong>of</strong> (Florence), The Importance<br />
<strong>of</strong> Being Earnest (Ms. Prism), Wonder <strong>of</strong> the World (Lois), <strong>and</strong> Twelfth Night (Clown). She would<br />
like to thank the entire NSU Theatre family for their support <strong>and</strong> trust in her as an actor. She would<br />
like to extend appreciation to her mom, Jennifer, <strong>and</strong> sister, Owesha <strong>and</strong> all those who believe in<br />
her. In the fall, Henry will begin the M.F.A. program at the University <strong>of</strong> Louisville.<br />
Barry Marks is a senior theatre major at the Farquhar <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong> <strong>and</strong> a transfer<br />
student from Adelphi University. During high school, Marks was involved in many productions<br />
<strong>and</strong> state conferences. While at Adelphi University, he was assistant stage manager on the first<br />
collegiate performance <strong>of</strong> RENT (fall 2008). He was also the stage manager for NSU Theatre’s<br />
production <strong>of</strong> Wonder <strong>of</strong> the World. Marks is proud to be a part <strong>of</strong> NSU Theatre. He is extremely<br />
grateful to his very supportive parents, who have given him this opportunity.<br />
Elizabeth Rodriguez is a senior double-major in theatre <strong>and</strong> legal studies at the Farquhar <strong>College</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong>. She has performed in productions at the college including Women <strong>of</strong><br />
Lockerbie <strong>and</strong> the Festival <strong>of</strong> the One Acts. She has also been the stage manager <strong>of</strong> NSU Theatre’s<br />
first musical, Cinderella, <strong>and</strong> the theatre review. She is excited to have the chance to return to the<br />
theatre one last time before she graduates from the college. She appreciates everyone in her life<br />
who has supported her.<br />

<strong>Sciences</strong>. He is thrilled to be making his directorial debut for this Festival <strong>of</strong> Student Works <strong>and</strong><br />
would like to thank both <strong>of</strong> his amazing casts, his stage manager Wallace, <strong>and</strong> Mark, Dan, <strong>and</strong><br />
Margaret for their support, input, <strong>and</strong> encouragement. Sanz’s previous performance credits include<br />
Twelfth Night (Sir Toby Belch), Renaissance <strong>and</strong> Juliet (Soloist), Voice <strong>of</strong> Dickens (Ensemble), A<br />
Year with Frog <strong>and</strong> Toad (Father Frog), Evil Dead the Musical (Demon Tree), Naomi in the Living<br />
Room (John), Ruthless! The Musical (Mr. Thorn), The Importance <strong>of</strong> Being Earnest (Rev. Dr.<br />
Chasuble), Cannibal the Musical (Townsintern), Dead Man Walking (Clyde Percy), The Proposal<br />

Duck Pond by Ara Watson, two plays that spoke to him the moment he read them <strong>and</strong> wanted to<br />
bring them to life. Marks’ other credits with NSU Theatre include Twelfth Night, Or What You Will<br />
(Antonio), Wonder <strong>of</strong> the World (Glen), The Importance <strong>of</strong> Being Earnest (Footman), Stop Kiss<br />
(Detective #2), The Festival <strong>of</strong> Student Works (Marcus, Funeral Parlor; Vladimer, The Duel), <strong>and</strong><br />
IMPROV JAM! (writer/various). He is truly grateful to have directed such a gifted <strong>and</strong> hardworking<br />

Nora Yessayan is a junior theatre major at the Farquhar <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong>.<br />
Her previous acting credits in the college include The Dining Room (various roles), Dead<br />
Man Walking (Hope/Emily), Mpls., St. Paul (Mel), Slop-Culture (Cindy), The Importance<br />
<strong>of</strong> Being Earnest (Merriman), Stop Kiss (Sara), A Year with Frog <strong>and</strong> Toad (Bee, Mouse,<br />
Squirrel), Wonder <strong>of</strong> the World (Cass) as well as assistant director <strong>of</strong> 12th Night. Yessayan<br />
has also interned with Promethean Theatre. She is looking forward to her directorial debut.<br />

Conductor Bios<br />
Alex Glamyan is a senior music major earning a theatre minor. He most recently appeared in the college’s<br />
productions <strong>of</strong> The Importance <strong>of</strong> Being Earnest <strong>and</strong> the Festival <strong>of</strong> Student Works. As a musician, Glamyan<br />
is a member <strong>of</strong> the Bossa <strong>Nova</strong> Chorale, the NSU Vocal Ensemble, <strong>and</strong> the Chamber Choir. He has performed<br />
in the college’s Spring Concert <strong>and</strong> Peace Concert during the 2009–2010 Season <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Arts</strong>. He has<br />
worked as a technician for several college productions <strong>and</strong> most recently as an intern for the Promethean<br />
Theatre’s production <strong>of</strong> Evil Dead: The Musical. Glamyan was excited to the college’s production <strong>of</strong> A Year<br />
with Frog <strong>and</strong> Toad, as it marked his musical theatre debut. He thanks Jett Canary, Bill Adams, the PVA<br />
faculty, the cast, his family, <strong>and</strong> his girlfriend.<br />
Michelle M<strong>and</strong>elbaum is a senior music major at the Farquhar <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong> <strong>and</strong> a major<br />
in business. She began her career as a pop singer in Colombia. After having the opportunity to perform<br />
in important events in her native country, M<strong>and</strong>elbaum traveled to the United States in 2008 to continue<br />
to pursue her dreams. Her music credits include Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe <strong>of</strong> 2007, for which<br />
she was invited to sing the anthem at both the opening <strong>and</strong> closing ceremonies <strong>of</strong> the games. On these<br />
occasions, she shared the stage with Carlos Vives <strong>and</strong> El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico. Her NSU Theater<br />
credits include Gypsy (Mazeppa <strong>and</strong> Miss Cratchett) <strong>and</strong> Ruthless (Lita Encore). Her music credits at the<br />
college include The National Anthem at the 2010 Florida Pre-Senatorial <strong>and</strong> Gubernatorial Debates. She<br />
would like to thank Jennifer Donelson <strong>and</strong> Richard Skirpan for giving her the opportunity to conduct a piece<br />
for the first time.<br />
