The membership of Concordia Lutheran
Council is approved by the Lutheran Church
of Australia Queensland District and we report
annually to Synod. We currently have seven
members who at one time or another have
been or will be past students or past, present
or future parents of the College.
We use our range of talents and experience
in the areas of accounting and finance; legal;
education and business management in
the key role of Corporate Governance. It is
our responsibility to ensure that the school
operates in accordance with the objectives,
policies and procedures set by the Lutheran
Church.
Our involvement is in long term Strategic
matters, concerned with aims, priorities and
future developments of the College. Activities
such as these shape the overall ethos and
purpose of the school. Our other key role is
to provide support and encouragement to the
Head of College and the Executive Team in
their daily operational activities.
To assist in carrying out our functions, we

have four sub-committees – Finance and
Asset Management; Legal Audit and Risk;
P&F Management and Strategy and Planning.
These sub committees that meet regularly
gather information and provide advice to help
the Council in its monitoring function.
At the start of 2012 we all agreed that it would
be worthwhile to gain a better insight into the
Strategic Planning Process, given that our
current Five Year Plan was concluding at the
end of 2012. For some Council members, 2012
was their first year of Council membership and
to assist them we joined with Michael Kaiser
and members of his Executive Team in a
series of workshops facilitated by Independent
Schools Queensland. Much discussion took
place in what defines the College, where we
need to be in the next five years and how
this will be achieved. Our learning as Council
members is never ending and we have
committed to engage in continual professional
development to carry out our Governance role.
Our Capital Projects have included the long
awaited refurbishment to the pool in to what
