Greetings from Canada
Prior to the Heritage Weekend celebrations,
Ellen White (Orava, 1954-1955) sent greetings
from Vancouver. An excerpt follows:
This little Finnish girl who came from Tully -
the student who traveled the longest distance
in years 1954-1955 - 2 days and 2 nights on
two trains to attend Concordia. There were
students in a higher grade, teachers, dorm
mistress, who became role models for this
lonely girl from a sugar cane farm, who had
big dreams.
Dreams of high education, of traveling,
success in her career, and then in business
with her husband - consultants to many small
companies and large corporations, in Australia,
Canada and USA and other countries and
experiencing life by living in these nations.
As you gather for the Heritage Weekend
Celebration and for the Fabulous Fifties -
I HONOUR my Principal, The Teachers, The
Kitchen Staff, Dorm Mistress, and my Fellow
Students, and say “Thank You For Being Part
Of My Life’s Journey”.
I leave this scripture for EVERYONE and
especially to the Current Staff and Students.
