ASSEMBLY HIGHLIGHTS LAFP FOUNDATION 2003 Foundation Report Dear LAFP Member: In 1987, the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians Foundation was established to promote and support innovation and improvement of the specialty of Family Practice. Through our combined efforts, our 2003 Foundation accomplishments include: • Funding for LSU-New Orleans, LSU- Shreveport and Tulane FMIG programs • Funding for student attendance at the National Conference of Students and Residents • Funding for student and resident attendance at the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians Scientific Assembly • Payment of dues for Louisiana’s first year medical students • Presentation of the Gerald R. Gehringer Family Practice Award to a Senior at LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. While we are on the right track, we can not let the momentum stop. We must continue our quest to be the foremost champion of Family Medicine in Louisiana. So, remember, it is member support that enables the Foundation to continue its mission to attract, encourage and educate students in the field of family medicine. Please take a moment to make a contribution to the LAFP Foundation in support of these worthwhile efforts. Mail your check payable to the LAFP Foundation to 919 Tara Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70806.
