Art historian and curator Philippe-Alain Michaud is
the Director of the Department of Film at the Musée
National d’Art Moderne-Centre Georges Pompidou,
Paris. He visited New Plymouth in late 2013 as the
Govett-Brewster’s inaugural Film Curator in
Residence, working with the Gallery on cinema
programming for the new Govett-Brewster Art
Gallery/Len Lye Centre, opening 2015.

Philippe-Alain has curated numerous exhibitions
concerning the relationship between cinema and
contemporary art, including Le mouvement des
images, Centre Pompidou, March 2006-January
2007; Bild für Bild, Museum Ostwall, Dortmund,
2010; Electric Nights: Art and Pyrotechnics, LABoral
Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial, 2011; Images
