Visit to HIV/AIDS home
The DCS Interact community outreach team headed off to HIVSA to learn more about
how HIV/AIDS and teen pregnancy are affecting young women. The visit resonated with
us on a deep emotional level. We walked away determined to live responsibly and to be
more aware of people in our communities facing great challenges. LYDIA MADUMO, 11N
FROM THE HEADMASTER’S DESK
From responsibility, joy
“Can I have fun and live a responsible life?”, is a common question asked by many
teenagers. The answer is yes, and is best learned from experience. Part of what we do at
Dominican is ensure that our children experience life outside of our safe and comfortable
community. We do this through tours, programmes and community outreach.
This year, students have the opportunity to observe how HIV/AIDS impacts individuals,
experience a taste of life in the UK, and shadow professionals as a way to discover
career interest. These experiences awaken an understanding of how choices define
destiny, and that responsible choices lead to lifelong joy. Good luck to all of you as we
enter the exam period. Choose hard work now, so you can enjoy good results.
p A time for prayer and support before exams.
