Dr. Larry Devane, President<br />

President Dr. Larry F. Devane has created a vision for <strong>Redlands</strong> that includes<br />

state of the art technology, varied course and program delivery modes, student<br />

focused facilities, numerous public and private education partnerships, and a<br />

high standard for competitive athletics.<br />

Devane was selected by the American Association of <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong>s to<br />

the International Education Commission. The Commission will be focused on<br />

analysis of student access to U.S. <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong>s and the role of the<br />

AACC in partnering with learning access at the associate level in countries<br />

developing community colleges.<br />

Devane continues to serve on the AACC National Homeland Security Task Force and the task force<br />

steering committee. Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the international two-year college academic honor<br />

society, has recognized Devane for his multiple years of service to PTK’s Oklahoma/Arkansas region<br />

as a Distinguished Presidential Ambassador. Further, PTK has awarded Devane the Shirley B. Gordon<br />

Award of Distinction.<br />

Devane’s state and community leadership roles are varied, including serving on the Board of Directors<br />

of the El Reno Chamber of Commerce Foundation for Progress, El Reno Federal Corrections Institute<br />

<strong>Community</strong> Advisory Council, Canadian Valley Integris Hospital Board of Directors, Vice President<br />

of the Canadian County Greater Oklahoma City Metro United Way, and Coordinator of Leadership<br />

Canadian County, as well as past President of the Oklahoma Two-Year <strong>College</strong>s Presidents Association.<br />

Devane has served as President of RCC since 1990 and was honored in 2001 by the <strong>Redlands</strong> Board<br />

of Regents with the naming of a campus building, the “Larry F. Devane Multi-<strong>Media</strong> Lifelong Learning<br />

Center.” He recently was named as the 2005-<strong>06</strong> El Reno Citizen of the Year.<br />

Prior to coming to RCC, Dr. Devane was President of Highland <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> in Highland, Kansas.<br />

He attended Coffeyville <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong>, earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Emporia<br />

State University, and his PhD in adult and occupational education from Kansas State University in<br />

1975.<br />
