Born as a festival of transformation in Byron Bay,
Australia in December 2012, UPLIFT has rapidly
evolved into a thriving movement of global events,
pioneering projects and unique collaboration in
service of humanity and the Earth.
“Over the years we have been blessed to meet so
many inspired leaders, pioneers
and innovators,” says ORGANIC
INDIA and UPLIFT founder, Bharat
Mitra. “Most of these amazing
people and organisations are
working in relative isolation and
separation from each other.
UPLIFT gives us the gift of
coming together in an incredibly
collaborative space where fresh
creative impulses can reveal
themselves in ways that are bigger
than all of us… and then manifest
in the world through action.”
Combining the power of live experience with the
global reach of the internet UPLIFT is a bridge of
conscious intention into real world action, guided
by a fundamental vision of Sarvodaya – Sanskrit
meaning: “Upliftment for all”. While UPLIFT is not the
only festival committed to creating positive change,
there are a few key elements that make UPLIFT a
truly unique experience. In particular, what leads up
to the event… and what comes after.
“The Gathering” - Being as a Source of Action
For an entire week prior to the festival, UPLIFT
presenters, artists and co-creators come together
from all around the world in what is affectionately

referred to as “The Gathering” – a focused period
of sharing and discovery with a fundamental aim
of exploring what synergies and new creative
possibilities emerge from the collective gifts of
the group. For UPLIFT presenters, the Gathering
offers a rare opportunity to join with like-minded
visionaries from other walks and weave their unique
thread into a larger tapestry
– while cultivating a unified
field of energy, inspiration and
unprecedented collaboration for
the 4-day festival that follows.
UPLIFT Projects - Co-creating
Oneness in Action
The heart of the UPLIFT vision
is to ignite an ongoing platform
of conscious collaboration
fueled by grounded, real world
action. Sparked by this intention,
many unique partnerships have
emerged from the festival in a
very short period of time, manifesting in powerful
global initiatives in all areas of life.
Here are a few highlights of UPLIFT projects and
initiatives that have risen into action this year
around the world.
In March 2014, UPLIFT Middle East was launched
with a series of events hosted by UPLIFT family
Ora and Ihab Balha – featuring Bruce Lipton, Deva
Premal and Miten and others devoted to dissolving
pre-conceived separation between communities
and cultures in the region. As a multi-layered
meeting place for global Peacemakers, UPLIFT ME is
now brewing a grassroots movement in partnership
with “We Refuse to Be Enemies”, The Orchard
of Abraham’s Children and other transformative
projects focused on creating living examples of
peace and unity in the region.
In September, UPLIFT partnered with Native
American elders in South Dakota for the cocreation
of the historic Black Hills Unity Concert.
This unprecedented gathering was the first
powerful step of a unification process for the tribes
of the Great Sioux Buffalo Nation to reclaim their
stewardship of the Black Hills as their sacred, rightful
homeland. Follow-on meetings amongst elders of
the tribes have been devoted to the preparation of
an official management plan to be delivered and
presented to President Obama.
In India, UPLIFT is engaged in a multi-disciplinary
initiative devoted to cleaning the waters of the
Ganges River and supporting a revolutionary
agro-ecology movement across the country. This
initiative is bridging leading minds in sustainable
agriculture together with the Indian government
and local farmers to bring together holistic solutions
to sustainably feeding, growing and nourishing the
land and people of India for future generations.
In March of 2015, UPLIFT will join with UNIFY in
the creation of a synchronized World Water Day
meditation bringing millions of people together
around the world with focused intent for healing the
waters of our planet.
Here in Australia, UPLIFT has supported Lock the
Gate in a groundbreaking series of events inspired
by farmers and citizens devoted to protecting their
land and water from damaging mining practices. In
November, UPLIFT produced Australias largest ever
concert to support Lock the Gate and united over
60 bands for the inaugural ‘Rock the Gate’ precinct
festival in Sydney, empowering the celebration of
positive, unified action for future generations.
Over the past couple years UPLIFT Youth has
brought together some incredible young leaders who
are making a powerful impact through their inspired
actions in service of humanity and the planet. 13-yearold
‘Earth Guardian’ indigenous activist Xiuhtezcatl
Martinez, 14-year-old founder of non-GMO campaign
‘Kids Right to Know’ Rachel Parent, and 11-year-old
Holley Somerville-Knott are a few who are leading the
charge, catalysing a generation of young visionaries
to rise together with pure devotion to creating a
bright future for ALL. In response to the incredible
ground-swell of youth in action, UPLIFT Youth is
building a dynamic online platform to support the
inspiration, commitment and collaboration of young
people around the world, working together to create
a sustainable planet for future generations.
From Native elders to rising youth leaders, from
pioneering research in sustainability, to groundbreaking
True Wellness initiatives lead by leading
integrative doctors around the world, UPLIFT is a
growing constellation of inspired action in all areas of
life, committed to creating a world that works.
The best thing of all is that wherever you are in the
world and whatever unique gift or passion you came
