Pioneer in Integrative Medicine
SCARLETT LEWIS
Choose Love
Dr. Lipton began his scientific career as
a cell biologist. His research at Stanford
University’s School of Medicine
revealed that the environment,
operating though the membrane,
controlled the behavior and physiology
of the cell, turning genes on and off.
His discoveries, which ran counter to
the established scientific view that life
is controlled by the genes, presaged
one of today’s most important fields
of study, the science of epigenetics.
His deepened understanding of cell
biology highlighted the mechanisms
by which the mind controls bodily
functions, and implied the existence
of an immortal spirit. He applied this
science to his personal biology, and
discovered that his physical well- being
improved, and the quality and character
of his daily life was greatly enhanced.
Charles Eisenstein is a teacher, speaker,
and writer focusing on themes of
civilization, consciousness, money,
and human cultural evolution. His
on-line writings have generated a
vast following; he speaks frequently
at conferences and other events, and
gives numerous interviews on radio and
podcasts.Eisenstein graduated from
Yale University in 1989 with a degree
in Mathematics and Philosophy, and
spent the next ten years as a Chinese-
English translator. A self-described
“degrowth activist”, he is the author of
several books including The Ascent of
Humanity (2007), Sacred Economics
(2011), and The More Beautiful World
Our Hearts Know Is Possible (2013).
Eisenstein now frequently travels to
speak and share his work at conferences
and other events.
Lissa Rankin, MD is a mind-body medicine
physician and the New York Times
bestselling author of Mind Over Medicine:
Scientific Proof That You Can Heal Yourself.
She is on a grass roots mission to put the
“care” back in health care, and to heal our
broken health care system – one doctor
and one patient at a time. Discouraged
by our broken health care system and
curious why some patients do everything
“right” but still wind up sick, Lissa set out
to discover why some patients experience
miraculous cures from seemingly
incurable illnesses, while others remain
sick even when they receive the best
medical care. What she uncovered in the
mainstream medical literature led her to
develop a type of medical practice she
terms “Whole Health Medicine,” based on
the scientifically-proven healthy behaviors
she shares in Mind Over Medicine.
A former monk and long-term peace
and environment activist, Satish
Kumar has been quietly setting the
Global Agenda for change for over
50 years. He was just nine when
he left his family home to join the
wandering Jains and 18 when he
decided he could achieve more back
in the world, campaigning for land
reform in India and working to turn
Gandhi’s vision of a renewed India
and a peaceful world into reality.
He continues to teach and run
workshops on reverential ecology,
holistic education and voluntary
simplicity and is a much sought-after
speaker both in the UK and abroad.
Bharat Mitra is the co-founder of
ORGANIC INDIA, a recognized global
leader in consciousness, business
and sustainability. As a spiritual
entrepreneur, his focus is on creating
a new paradigm of business in service
of humanity and the planet. He was
inspired by his master, Sri H.W.L.
Poonja (Papaji), in India, whom he
met in 1991. He then co-founded
ORGANIC INDIA as “A Vehicle of
Consciousness” - a company with
no separation between spirituality
and business, whose mission is to
be an embodiment of Oneness in
action. Bharat is president of The Bet
Lev Foundation (USA), a Director of
The StarFire Fund (USA), Founder of
Insight Intensive, Gold Lake (USA),
Chairman of The Lev Group (Israel)
and Visionary co-founder of UPLIFT.
Bhavani Lev and her husband Bharat
Mitra founded the UPILFT Festival
in 2012 in order to gather together
open hearted beings from all over the
world, to come together and align our
intentions to live in a higher, more
loving consciousness, and energetically
spread awakening throughout the field
of collective consciousness. Bhavani has
been teaching Yoga since 1983, and
is also a Certified Quantum Healing
Hypnotherapist and Psych-K facilitator.
In 1996 Bharat Mitra and Bhavani
founded ORGANIC INDIA as a Vehicle
of Consciousness to be a beacon
in the corporate world, a leader of
responsible, ethical business practices,
and introduced the world to Tulsi.
This distinguished pioneer in
integrative medicine is a worldrenowned
expert in the mind/body
connection. Her work has been
foundational in an international
health-care revolution that recognizes
the role of meaning, and the spiritual
dimensions of life, as an integral
part of health and healing. She is
one of the most popular and sought
after speakers in the field of health,
healing, and spirituality.
On December 14, 2012, Scarlett
Lewis experienced something that no
parent should ever have to endure:
she lost her son Jesse in an act of
unimaginable violence. The day
started just like any other, but when a
gunman opened fire at Sandy Hook
Elementary School, Scarlett’s life
changed forever. However, this isn’t
a story about a massacre. It’s a story
about love and survival. It’s about how
to face the impossible, how to find
courage when you think you have
none, and how to choose love instead
of anger, fear, or hatred.
PEOPLE OF THE EARTH OF
THE SIERRA NEVADA
We come under the mandate of the
spiritual authority of the original peoples
of La Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta
in Colombia, which to us is the direct
voice of the Mother. Being in function
of this spiritual authority sustains us in
continuity with the preancient wisdom
that guides us in the Unification Process
we forward to bring awareness of life
originating principles in collective
consciousness. We see the fulfillment
of this spiritual mandate as the only
possible path that will bring humanity
to a conscious decision to restore our
Mother Earth’s original rights to Her
Natural Constitution. We therefore come
to UNITE with those willing to commit
to this mandate by bringing forth their
volition to disciplined and concrete
actions for Mother Earth Restoration...
As as Deathwalker, my work has been
a great privilege and a wonderful
learning. Many cultures and
philosophies embrace the concept of
living life as a practice for death. By
being courageous enough to look at
the fears we hold around living and
dying, we allow ourselves to face them
fully, work with them and transform
them. Facing our fears in an honest
and open way, and with guidance and
assistance, the quality of our lives can
be enriched.
Al has been on a journey since the
age of 12 to discover his gift, find
his tool for change and go through
the stages needed to now be able to
experience “flow” at 20 years old! Over
the years Al has started up multiple
social organisations and projects, each
time learning more and more about
himself and his true purpose. Along
the way we has been named as one
of Australia’s top entrepreneurs
under 30 years old as well as others.
He is now the creator of Onely and
SOUND SHOWER WITH
AVISHAI BARNATAN
Created by Avishai Barnatan ,
musician, producer and sound
therapist, the Soundshower
combines Tibetan Bowls, Chimes,
Flutes and Overtone Singing where
the audience is invited to lie down
and immerse in the soothing tones.
These tones reduce the brain activity
and slow the heart beat, allowing a
deep expanded state where healing
can occur. The Soundshower can shift
and release stagnant energy and
tension accumulated in the body, and
is a very relaxing, rejuvenating and
energizing experience.
Chad’s style is unique. Being a
multi-instrumentalist himself his
songs vary from upbeat, positive-vibe
celebration tunes to deep, devotional
guided meditations, all showcasing
conscious lyrics.
with her mother at 5 years old. In
her twenties, Bhavani’s quest for the
meaning of life took her to Yogiraj
Sri Swami Satchidananda where she
became a certified Yoga Instructor in
Hatha Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation,
and Yoga as Therapy. In 1990 Bhavani
founded her own yoga studio, Living
meditation and fun.
CLIVE SHERIDAN
Clive’s experience of Yoga spans
a lifetime’s quest to “return to the
essence of our true nature”. Clive uses
Asana, Pranayama, Meditation and
Self Enquiry as “tools for spiritual
transformation” – a balance of Asana,
suitable for all levels and essential
classical Pranayamas is shared in a
very clear and accessible way. Clive’s
partner Miranda will assist him in the
Asana sessions.
RACHEL ZINMAN
Rachel Zinman Yoga
Rachel has been practicing yoga for
29 years and has taught for over 20.
She discovered yoga at the age of
19 after being told by a chiropractor
that yoga and meditation would
help her back problems. She began
her studies in Sydney, Australia but
later moved to Byron Bay where her
training continued in the Iyengar and
Ashtanga methods. One of her first
teaching engagements was as the
Head of Dance at the Northern Rivers
Conservatorium in Lismore, NSW.
REBECCA PFLAUM
Introduction to Kundalini Class
Living, breathing and teaching
the joy of movement, dance and
yoga for over 30 years, Rebecca
has traveled extensively to share
her life, experiences, wisdom and
Truths. Kundalini Yoga was the most
transformational and sacred gift she
received to recover and reclaim her
body, mind and spirit. In turn, she
responded to the calling and has since
led many retreats and workshops
around the world, including 7 years
at the Bali Spirit Festival, Milan
Yoga Festival, Evolution Asia Yoga
Conference and Namaste Festival.
LEYOLAH ANTARA
Kundalini Dance
Kundalini Dance taps the dancer
directly into the energy flows of
creation. When aroused through the
dance, Kundalini Shakti moves softly
and sensually through your body &
soul, inspiring the dancer to return
to authenticity and vulnerability.
We can feel the universal energies
of the Divine Masculine as the
light of pure consciousness, a clear
crystalline presence that brings clarity
of mind, mental focus and higher
consciousness. When the two polarities
merge within, the dancer is opened
to deeper connection with the highest
possibility of life, love & community.
Awareness through slow conscious
movement patterns, refining and
updating the quality of movement to
the embodied experience. Rhythm,
tone, oscillation, pulsing, spiralling
and primal patterns invite our bodies
to move with new options, finding
ease, effortless grace and spacious
freedom. Life is Meditation in Motion.
Cate’s experience over three decades
in yoga, occupational therapy and
therapeutic massage & bodywork has
fuelled her passion for furthering the
cause of workplace health, offering
seminars, classes and retreats to the
corporate world, along with developing
Yoga Pass, making yoga accessible to
those who have never tried it before.
She also works daily as a yoga therapist
and masseuse and meditation has
been a lifelong discipline that she
started at 15 years of age.
Yin yoga can be practiced by everyone.
In Hatha Yoga we create a balance
between effort and surrender. In Yin
Style yoga we practice without engaging
muscular activity. Instead we encourage
the muscles to relax. As we surrender to
our breath we move into deep stretches
and remain still for a period of time. This
revitalizes areas of connective tissue
and joints and enhances the flow of chi
or prana in the body, which is deeply
healing and calming. All the poses
are practiced lying down or sitting.
Athe calm spaciousness that is always
compassion and calm.
Louisa was introduced to Yoga by her
mother who has been a practitioner all
her life (who at 86 still attends 2 weekly
classes and is living testimony of the
benefits of regular practice). She has
trained with many inspiring teachers
and broadened her work to incorporate
Pilates and other movement modalities.
“For me, embodied movement is a
nourishing, dynamic and lifelong
practice that deepens all the time. My
intention is to create a space which
supports going deeper into embodiment
and healing and to teach a practice which
is both calm and empowering.”
UPLIFT SPECIAL EVENTS
GYUTO MONKS OF TIBET RETURN FOR UPLIFT 2014
The Gyoto Monks are the Dalai Lama’s tantric masters visiting Australia from their monastery in Dharamsala,
India. They are the living embodiment of pure human affection & compassion in action, and offer to all who
come in contact with them a positive experience of love, happiness and hope.
The monks will work daily to create the Sand Mandala of Chakrasamvara – known as the Mother Mandala of female energy; and
will offer their deep harmonic chanting sessions, unique meditation and uplifting public talks. Led by Gyuto elder Gen Lama
Thupten Phuntsok, 76 yrs old who escaped from Tibet in 1959, the group of six monks are tantric masters holding the pure
transmissions of the tantric arts including the art of the sand mandala, butter sculpture, harmonic chanting and ritual ceremony.
This 600 year old tradition is vital to the future of Tibetan Buddhism and thus the monks travel to the west to reveal this precious
legacy and to seek support for its survival.Masters of ritual and ceremony, the monks will also be available throughout the
festival to perform Personal Pujas on request.
SPIRITS FOR SALE
Western spiritualists often adopt
indigenous religions from around
the world for their enlightenment,
but are they truly respecting the
sacred protocols and traditions?
Beautifully crafted and filmed,
‘Spirits for Sale’ explores both sides
of this important question.
The Kogi are the last surviving
civilization from the world of the
Inca and Aztec, and their cities are
untouched by our world. The Kogi are
profoundly frightened by what we are
doing to the world, but also well aware
that we have no understanding of the
forces which we are unleashing. They
believe that the only hope of survival
for mankind is if we can learn why they
are so scared, and they know that we
will only believe what we can see.
Is tourism destroying the world–or
saving it? From the Bolivian jungle
to the party beaches of Thailand,
and from the deserts of Timbuktu,
Mali to the breathtaking beauty of
Bhutan, GRINGO TRAILS shows the
unanticipated impact of tourism
on cultures, economies, and the
environment, tracing some stories
over 30 years.
LIVING KANYINI
Elder Bob Randall shares ancient
answers for our troubled times, in
intimate conversation with well
known international author, mystic
and spiritual teacher, Andrew Harvey.
Kanyini or unconditional love
with responsibility, is a system of
connection with everything, anchored
in the timeless wisdom of the Anangu
of the Central Desert area of Australia.
The teachings of Kanyini have the
potential to transform our planet and
bring a return to true oneness with
nature and each other.
IT’S TIME TO UPLIFT THE WORLD.
“When we join together in small groups, festivals and larger gatherings…
we hold the code to more intelligent and loving life right here among us now.”
Born as a festival of transformation in Byron Bay,
Australia in December 2012, UPLIFT has rapidly
evolved into a thriving movement of global events,
pioneering projects and unique collaboration in
service of humanity and the Earth.
“Over the years we have been blessed to meet so
many inspired leaders, pioneers
and innovators,” says ORGANIC
INDIA and UPLIFT founder, Bharat
Mitra. “Most of these amazing
people and organisations are
working in relative isolation and
separation from each other.
UPLIFT gives us the gift of
coming together in an incredibly
collaborative space where fresh
creative impulses can reveal
themselves in ways that are bigger
than all of us… and then manifest
in the world through action.”
Combining the power of live experience with the
global reach of the internet UPLIFT is a bridge of
conscious intention into real world action, guided
by a fundamental vision of Sarvodaya – Sanskrit
meaning: “Upliftment for all”. While UPLIFT is not the
only festival committed to creating positive change,
there are a few key elements that make UPLIFT a
truly unique experience. In particular, what leads up
to the event… and what comes after.
“The Gathering” - Being as a Source of Action
For an entire week prior to the festival, UPLIFT
presenters, artists and co-creators come together
from all around the world in what is affectionately
UPLIFT 2014
Barbara Marx Hubbard
Alive in each
person’s heart
is the desire to
participate in
something bigger
than themselves.
Bharat Mitra
referred to as “The Gathering” – a focused period
of sharing and discovery with a fundamental aim
of exploring what synergies and new creative
possibilities emerge from the collective gifts of
the group. For UPLIFT presenters, the Gathering
offers a rare opportunity to join with like-minded
visionaries from other walks and weave their unique
thread into a larger tapestry
– while cultivating a unified
field of energy, inspiration and
unprecedented collaboration for
the 4-day festival that follows.
UPLIFT Projects - Co-creating
Oneness in Action
The heart of the UPLIFT vision
is to ignite an ongoing platform
of conscious collaboration
fueled by grounded, real world
action. Sparked by this intention,
many unique partnerships have
emerged from the festival in a
very short period of time, manifesting in powerful
global initiatives in all areas of life.
Here are a few highlights of UPLIFT projects and
initiatives that have risen into action this year
around the world.
In March 2014, UPLIFT Middle East was launched
with a series of events hosted by UPLIFT family
Ora and Ihab Balha – featuring Bruce Lipton, Deva
Premal and Miten and others devoted to dissolving
pre-conceived separation between communities
and cultures in the region. As a multi-layered
meeting place for global Peacemakers, UPLIFT ME is
now brewing a grassroots movement in partnership
with “We Refuse to Be Enemies”, The Orchard
of Abraham’s Children and other transformative
projects focused on creating living examples of
peace and unity in the region.
In September, UPLIFT partnered with Native
American elders in South Dakota for the cocreation
of the historic Black Hills Unity Concert.
This unprecedented gathering was the first
powerful step of a unification process for the tribes
of the Great Sioux Buffalo Nation to reclaim their
stewardship of the Black Hills as their sacred, rightful
homeland. Follow-on meetings amongst elders of
the tribes have been devoted to the preparation of
an official management plan to be delivered and
presented to President Obama.
In India, UPLIFT is engaged in a multi-disciplinary
initiative devoted to cleaning the waters of the
Ganges River and supporting a revolutionary
agro-ecology movement across the country. This
initiative is bridging leading minds in sustainable
agriculture together with the Indian government
and local farmers to bring together holistic solutions
to sustainably feeding, growing and nourishing the
land and people of India for future generations.
In March of 2015, UPLIFT will join with UNIFY in
the creation of a synchronized World Water Day
meditation bringing millions of people together
around the world with focused intent for healing the
waters of our planet.
Here in Australia, UPLIFT has supported Lock the
Gate in a groundbreaking series of events inspired
by farmers and citizens devoted to protecting their
land and water from damaging mining practices. In
November, UPLIFT produced Australias largest ever
concert to support Lock the Gate and united over
60 bands for the inaugural ‘Rock the Gate’ precinct
festival in Sydney, empowering the celebration of
positive, unified action for future generations.
Over the past couple years UPLIFT Youth has
brought together some incredible young leaders who
are making a powerful impact through their inspired
actions in service of humanity and the planet. 13-yearold
‘Earth Guardian’ indigenous activist Xiuhtezcatl
Martinez, 14-year-old founder of non-GMO campaign
‘Kids Right to Know’ Rachel Parent, and 11-year-old
Holley Somerville-Knott are a few who are leading the
charge, catalysing a generation of young visionaries
to rise together with pure devotion to creating a
bright future for ALL. In response to the incredible
ground-swell of youth in action, UPLIFT Youth is
building a dynamic online platform to support the
inspiration, commitment and collaboration of young
people around the world, working together to create
a sustainable planet for future generations.
From Native elders to rising youth leaders, from
pioneering research in sustainability, to groundbreaking
True Wellness initiatives lead by leading
integrative doctors around the world, UPLIFT is a
growing constellation of inspired action in all areas of
life, committed to creating a world that works.
The best thing of all is that wherever you are in the
world and whatever unique gift or passion you came
here to share, ALL are welcome and part of the
growing vision of UPLIFT.
Stay connected by tuning into the
UPLIFT global web platform and media channel
at www.UPLIFTconnect.com.
From each of us to all of us, it’s time to create a
new story and live into the powerful reality that
WE ARE ONE.
“UPLIFT is like a seed that
when germinated will spread all
across the world.” - Bruce Lipton
