INTRODUCTION
This Admission Pack contains all you need to apply for a Scholarship at the International
School of Düsseldorf. Students who will be in Grade 9 or above are eligible. There is
quite a lot of paperwork involved, but it is important that you are fully informed about what
it means to be accepted as a student at ISD before you decide to apply. Please use the
checklist to make sure your application is complete. You should send all the necessary
documentation at the same time to Christine Proctor, Admissions Manager, International

A full scholarship award entitles you to exemption from normal school fees throughout
your period of attendance at ISD. The financial position of your parents will be a
contributory factor in the decision-making process. A scholarship is a special privilege
and enables you to study for the International Baccalaureate school-leaving qualification
which, on successful completion, gives access to universities all over the world.
However, admission to ISD does not guarantee continued enrolment or automatic
progression from grade to grade. These depend on the student meeting the academic
and behavioral standards expected by the school.
ISD will not accept students whose academic, health or disciplinary records have been
falsified, or where information on special needs, health or behavior has been withheld.
Students admitted on the basis of false information will not be allowed to continue.

To confirm our mutual understanding of principal rules applicable at our school and
school-related activities, this Partnership Agreement is made to supplement the School
Agreement and confirm our commitments.
1. We, the school, agree that, within the limits of our resources,
a) we will provide a safe and structured learning environment;
b) we will provide students with a broad range of meaningful developmental
learning experiences through our academic and co-curricular program;
c) we will provide students and parents with a range of qualified personnel and
appropriate resources to support student needs;
d) we will provide a system whereby students can help students;
e) we will use consequences which balance the needs of the individual student
with the needs of the entire student body;
f) we will apply consistent and appropriate behavior limits within which
students can develop self-discipline and responsible behavior;
g) we will maintain honest and open, timely and regular communication with parents.
2. I, the student, undertake that, within the limits of my ability,
a) I will conduct myself in a safe and responsible manner;
b) I will show respect to all individuals and property;
c) I will seek help when having school or personal problems;
d) I will encourage my friends to seek adult help when needed;

SCHOOL AGREEMENT
Introduction
Becoming a student at the International School of Düsseldorf (“ISD” or the “School”) involves the
following four legal relationships:
1. Membership of the parents (guardians) in the association that operates and carries the
School. This association is the International School of Düsseldorf e.V. (hereinafter
referred to as “ISD”). In order to become a member of the ISD community, parents apply
for membership, and agree to adhere to ISD’s articles of association (the “Statutes”), by
signing the Admission Form and Membership Application. The Statutes are available at
the School’s business office.
2. Parents (guardians) are a party to the School Agreement. The School Agreement
contains the contractual terms and conditions for attending ISD as an educational
institution. Parents agree to adhere to the School Agreement by signing the
Admission/Application Form
3. Parents and students are a party to the School’s Partnership Agreement. The
partnership agreement contains certain principal covenants and commitments of anyone
involved in the ISD community, representing fundamental rules and guidelines which are
essential to the functioning of the School. Parents and students, ISD and its staff all
agree to adhere to the partnership agreement. Parents and students agree to it by signing
the Admission/Application Form.
Terms and Conditions of the School Agreement
The student’s admission to and education at the School are subject to this school agreement.
Parents must submit to the Admissions Manager a completed and duly signed set of the full
admission documents (see checklist). The student must meet the legal conditions set out in
German school and educational laws as well as the academic and personal admission standards
set by ISD. Decisions on admission will be made by the Principal. In cases of doubt, admission
may depend on successful completion of an entrance test or a probationary period at the school.
Parents and students agree to obey the rules and regulations set by the School in respect of its
operations, and to support its mission, philosophy and policies. Written notices from the School
concerning any default by the student in disciplinary or educational matters shall be addressed to
the parents.
Parents shall keep the School informed of the physical, mental and emotional development of the
student. If the school is not informed of important facts concerning the student, or if relevant
information is withheld concerning past difficulties which would make it difficult to integrate the
student into the School environment, the School shall be entitled to terminate the School
Agreement.

Term of the Agreement
Either party may terminate the school agreement as of 31 December or 30 June of each year by
giving three months’ prior written notice. Notice of termination from the School shall be given by
the Director in consultation with the Board of Trustees of ISD.
In addition, either party may terminate the school agreement at any time for an extraordinary,
important reason, e.g. a student violating ISD’s attendance or other regulations, or a reason
relating to a breach of the terms and conditions of the school agreement.
The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of the School Agreement shall not affect any
other provision. The parties shall replace any invalid or unenforceable provision by a valid clause
which serves the parties’ purposes as expressed in this Agreement. The same shall apply if the
parties find that a necessary or advisable provision has been omitted.
This agreement shall be subject to German law. Place of venue is Düsseldorf.
