From Mr Ball: Head of Secondary
Hello Parents,
The most important thing to say is Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all our
community.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Secondary Parents’ Evening on Thursday night. I enjoy speaking
with the parents and the students at these events and also partaking of the fine nibbles
and beverages.
I look back over the term in reflection and I find it hard to believe that we have packed so
much into it. We have a talented group of students who make this possible. Needless to
say it has been as exciting as it has been busy. For me the most important thing at the end
of the term is that the students look as engaged and happy as they did in the first week of
term, and they do. This says everything.
Next term has a number of key events for your diaries:
The Year 11 and IB2 students have their mock examinations, which will start on
Thursday January 8. If the students haven’t started to revise already, then they need
to start now. For the IGCSE students all the work completed in Year 10 and 11 needs
to be learnt. For the IB students all the work covered in IB1 and IB2 needs to be
learnt. The mock examination uses past papers and are graded based on the IGCSE
and IB mark schemes.
We have the honour of hosting the FOBISIA Under 13 Games this academic year.
The competition will run from Wednesday March 11 to Sunday March 15. The Under
13 Games offers a great opportunity for the various teams, and individuals, to
compete in a friendly and welcoming environment. We look forward to providing an
environment in which the athletes are able to challenge their own standards, work
within teams and have the opportunity to engage with others.
This year we are combining the IGCSE and the IB information evenings for parents
to be on the same night. The IGCSE and the IB Evening (presented in English) will
be held on Tuesday March 17.
