Dear Parents, Students and Friends of GIS,
We are now at the end of a very busy first term. The students have achieved a lot both
inside and outside the classroom with the latter part of the term seeing some wonderful
Christmas spirit. The Christmas Fun Day was a wonderful event - thanks again to
everyone involved. This past week has seen a tremendous Christmas Concert, the hugely
entertaining Year 1 and 2 Christmas Play - The Landlord's Cat and also the Foundation
Christmas Show (and feast!)
I am delighted to advise that a major investment from our parent company, MBf Taylors, is
being made in the Foundation area of the school. Over the coming weeks and months you
will see a huge transformation in the playgrounds; new equipment, landscaping and play
areas are being developed. There is also a commitment to follow this with a redesigning of
the actual classroom areas.
In the new term we will be welcoming Mr David Doyle to the English department. Mr Doyle
is joining us from Ireland and is an experienced IB English and Theory of Knowledge
teacher.
We have been developing ways to visually portray the GIS Core Values; attached to this
newsletter is an example of each of the Core Values portrayed in a poster form. I will
attach other posters over the next few newsletters too. Soon these posters will be on
display around the school.
We have celebrated His Majesty the King's birthday with a whole school ‘Yellow
photograph’ and many of you have signed the Book of Well Wishes, which has been sent
to the palace. So, for the first week of December the international awareness was on
Thailand; this week has been South Africa.
For those of you celebrating it, Merry Christmas, and to everyone 'happy holidays'. We
look forward to seeing the students refreshed and ready for Term 2 on TUESDAY January
6.
Kind Regards,
