Arkansas Alpha Alumni Club

The past year has seen great success at
Arkansas Alpha with the founding of the
Arkansas Alpha Alumni Association. This
organization will serve as an important
tool in plarming and organizing future
almnni events. Along with the Association,
we have also begun to form the Jay
Hill Foundation which wUl provide educational
support to the chapter and offer
scholarships to undergraduate brothers
who have excelled both academically and
fraternally. The foundation bears the
name of a Vanderbilt Phi who is credited
with the formation and financing of Arkansas
Alpha during the crucial installation
period of the chapter. We hope to
award our first scholarship in the spring
of 1999!
The 50-year anniversary of the Arkansas
Alpha chapter of Phi Delta Theta was
celebrated March 27-29th of this year. We
celebrated 50 years of excellence at the
University of Arkansas with over 300
alumni and friends returning for a weekend
in Fayetteville. We had the honor of
installing 25 of the first 50 members of
Arkansas Alpha into the Golden Legion
of Phi Delta Theta. Also, 75 brothers were
presented with their Silver Legion pins.
The alumni of Arkansas Alpha would like
to thank Dr. Robert Deloian for serving
as our keynote speaker, Province President
Curt Boecking for his support and
attendance, and the entire staff of the
General Headquarters for their support.
Other Alumni events included our annual
alumni golf tournament this past
summer in Pine Bluff, as well as an
Alumni/Rushee function in Little Rock.
Both of these events were enormously
successful, and we appreciate all of our
alumni that participated.
It is great to see that alumni support is
as strong as it is. We are proud to currently
have over 150 active members of
the Alumni Association, and we anticipate
many more. If any alumnus of Phi
Delta Theta would like to become a
member of the Arkansas Alpha Alumni

Central Florida Alumni Club

At our April 7,1998 meeting, Tracy
Sammons (F.S.U.) told the brothers about
the intricacies and pressures of the Sunshine
Network Production Department.
Tracy fielded questions from the floor
ranging from how many staff members
does it take to do a live show at a Magic
basketball game (sometimes up to 200
workers), to requests from Gators to replay
the 1997 Florida State-Florida football
game (32-29).
St. Petersburg Alumni Club

The alumni club of St. Petersburg met
for lunch at Pepin Restaurant on October
7,1998. Eighteen brothers enjoyed the
fellowship. We decided to have quarterly
luncheon meetings at Pepin Restaurant
on the first Wednesday of January, April,
July and October. Plans are to have a social
gathering with wives during the
Christmas season, and efforts will be
made to include undergraduate Phis who
may be in town for the Christmas
holidays.

Williams, Florida '77, president; Robert
Melby, Florida '75, secretary/treasurer;
and Stanley Shaver, Florida '50, reporter.
Shreveport Alumni Club

On October 23,1998, the Shreveport
Alumni Club went on a weekend retreat
to Caddo Gap, AR to discuss alumni
rush, retention of graduating brothers,
starting a Housing Corporation
and the future
growth of our club. The
club holds approximately
3 to 4 meetings a year
and designates an entire
weekend to Founders
\ Day. We typically begin
with a social on Friday
