6.4 LABELLING REQUIREMENTS I
All processed food and beverage products imported into Taiwan for retail sale must have a
Chinese language label (NOTE: Taiwan uses traditional Chinese characters, not the simplified
characters used in Mainland China).
The Chinese label must indicate the following information:
• Product name
• Name, weight, volume or quantity of contents
• Name of food additives
• Name, telephone number and detailed address of manufacturer
• Name, telephone number and detailed address of importer
• Country of origin
• Expiration date
Any consumer-packaged food product must also carry specific nutritional labelling. The nutrition
label must provide the following information on the outer package or container of the product:
a) Title of the "Nutrition labelling"
b) Energy contents
c) Amount of protein, fat, saturated fat, trans fat, carbohydrate and sodium contained (note that
the carbohydrate herein includes dietary fibre)
d) Contents of other nutrients declared in the nutrition claim
e) Contents of other nutrients labelled by the manufacturer voluntarily
