2009 announced badly with the global economic crisis that started in the third quarter of 2008. But
despite the gloomy prospects it was nevertheless a wonderful race year, with various height points.
Let us start with the bad news beginning in August, the last EC 1/10 235mm was held in Madrid.
After 15 years this class no longer exists.
It is regrettable, this class was affordable, relatively simple and fun to drive, but if there is no longer a
manufacturer who makes these cars, racing with those cars becomes impossible too. Unfortunately I
was not present due to professional obligations, but Sander De Graaf was present and made a report

I want to thank the organizing club ARCA, and the Spanish federation for the well organized EC.
The first GP of the year was held in Portugal, at Villa Real, a very nice track that hosted the very first
EC 1/10 th IC track ever in 2003.
A pity only 22 drivers showed up, only Portuguese.

The second GP of the year was held in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The EC A 1/10th 200mm 2010 will be held at that track, it was a well organized race without any
problems. A few infrastructure works will be done by the club, so they can welcome everybody in
perfect conditions next year.
What I personally noticed during this GP, is how drivers race very sportive in Sweden and the
surrounding countries, as referee there is really not much work to do.
33 drivers listed from different Scandinavian country’s.
It was only the second time that electro star Alexander Hagberg raced with a 1/10th 200mm.
After the finals he was the well deserved winner.
1/10th 200mm drivers, I sincerely hope that you will be present next summer with 150
inscriptions in Sweden, because everything is there to make it a memorable EC.

Sweden is not that expensive anymore, as rumors want you to believe.

Third and last GP took place in Locorotondo, Italy. This is about a 70km to the south of Bari. It is a
new track with a beautiful design rostrum. Also here a relatively limited number of 24 participants. 1
Portuguese/Brazilian, all the others had the Italian nationality.
The race was well organized, no effort was to much for the organizer.
It is a real challenging fast track where the drivers capacities are put to the test.
Once again I think it is a real pity, because there are so few drivers turning up, the organizers who did
a perfect job, might get stuck with a financial hangover.
After the 45 minute final it was the revelation of the season, Spataro Biagio who claimed first place.
Will he become the Collari of the 1/10 IC track class

During May we went to Aigen, Oostenrijk for the third EC B 1/10th 200mm.
The track was very suitable for this class, and the organizer spared no effort.
112 drivers took part of this race.
After a breathtaking final Freddy Sudhoff from Germany became the new European Champion B.

I believe I can speak for all the drivers present, and also personally, and thank the organizer and the
Austrian federation for all the efforts done to make this race a success.

End of July we had the six th EC A at Gubbio, Italy.
Frankly, this race went way above my expectations.
The year before, during the GP I was at Gubbio, and I liked the track and the organization. But what
they accompliced for the EC, I have no words enough for that.
This was the best organized race I ever visited , every detail was covered. In my opinion and others,
this needs to be the new standard for EFRA EC’S.
Even now I still think a lot about this race, and how we can see to it, that this becomes the new EFRA
standard.
Again my sincere thanks to AMSCI and everyone from Club Automodellistico 5 Colli
Regarding the race itself, a whole week we got to see exciting races, with a lot of emotion and
drama. At the end it was Dirk Wischnewski who won the title.

It shows we are pretty stable with the amount of drivers, despite I hear of the decrease of drivers in
more and more country’s .
Below you can find an overview from the GP’s. We can conclude it is a dramatic low this year.
We have to give it some thorough thoughts if it is still useful to organize GP’s with so little
participants. Organizers spent a lot of money here.
