GPS Positioning with ODNR Well Plat Requirements
A new GPS concept in positioning is entering the professional
surveying market called “Precise Point Positioning GPS.”
Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Oil and
Gas Resources Management produced a “Surveyor Well Plat
Requirement” document dated October 17, 2011that state
survey positional requirements. Based on these two facts, this
continuing education course provides the following information
to educate Ohio surveyors on new science and technology:

Ohio Easements and Rights of Way
Surveyors deal with easements and rights of way virtually
every day, and they are the subject of a tremendous
amount of litigation, so they are of great interest to the
surveying community. This program covers all aspects of
easements and rights of way from their creation (both
written and unwritten), through topics such as interference
with an easement, maintenance of easements, overburdening
easements, how easements differ from licenses,
the importance of recordation, reversionary rights, and the
many ways in which easements and rights of way can be
terminated or extinguished. The program will be tailored
to Ohio law and court decisions.

Ohio’s Original Land Subdivisions
The surveys reviewed in this session will include:
The Virginia Military District; Congress Lands East of the
Meridian; Congress Lands North of the Old Seven Ranges;
Muskingum River Survey; between the Miami Rivers; New
Connecticut or the Western Reserve; Congress Lands of
1805 North of the Military Tract, Sufferer’s Lands or Fire
Lands; the Twelve Mile Square Reserve; South of the Baseline
and East of the 1st Meridian, South and East; and The
Michigan Meridian Survey.
Please note: The text for this workshop will be available for
optional separate purchase on Wednesday evening while
supplies last from the presenter for $80.
Individuals who attended the PLSO April CPD workshop WILL be
eligible to receive CPD credit, as the presenter will begin this program
where that one left off, and material will not be repeated.

Ohio Underground Damage Protection Law Changes and Program—OUPS Staff (2 parts)
This session will detail the extensive updates to the “Call Before You Dig” Law, as well as the
changes taking place for the OUPS program in Ohio. OUPS staff will also detail additional law adjustments
expected in the near future and the activities of the Ohio Underground Damage Prevention
Council.

This session will review general board complaint and investigation procedures. (1 part)
State Board of Registration—Your License and You—Presenter: John F. Greenhalge, Executive Director
The most common pitfalls and problems of licensure, and how to avoid them, will be discussed.

Please note that 2013-14 PLSO membership dues must be paid in full by September 30 for
