Basic Qualifications<br />

Applicants must<br />

\<br />

• be acitizen of <strong>Sri</strong> <strong>Lanka</strong><br />

• have at least 3 years experience in the public sector and be confirmed in their position<br />

• have at least 2 years experience in the public sector in a fieJd relevant to the proposed <br />

course- of study <br />

• english language proficiency - an IELTS overall score of 6.5 (Academic module) with no <br />

band less than 6.0 or TOEFL paper based test score of at least 580, or a TOEFL computer <br />

based test score of at least 237 or a TOEFL internet based score of at least 92. Scores <br />

must be valid until 1January 2013 and must be submitted with ascholarship application <br />

• have a tertiary level qualification at least equivalent to an Australian Bachelor degree<br />

• __ not have previously received any <strong>Sri</strong> <strong>Lanka</strong>n or overseas government funded scholarship <br />

for long term academic studies in a foreign country <br />

•. not already be following a course of study at a university abroad<br />

How to prepare<br />

In order to be applying for ADS, applicants must:<br />

• Satisfy eligibility reqyirements and conditions. Applicants should carefully read the <br />

<strong>information</strong> in this document, visit the website of the South Asia Scholarship Programme <br />

(SASP) (www.sDuthasiascholarship.org) and the Scholarships Handbook available at <br />

http://www.ausaid.gov.au/scholar/publications.cfm. and seek further guidance from SASP <br />

staff in order to ensure that all requirements are met. <br />

• _ Be nominated by their employer. Applicants must submit an employement letter issued <br />

by the Secretary of relevant line Ministry I Chief Secretary with their application <br />

• Select preffered courses carafully. Applicants will not be able to change the course that <br />

they have selected except in exceptional circumstances. The course must have aclear link <br />

to the applicant's prior experience and support the applicant to contribute to development <br />

outcomes on their return to <strong>Sri</strong> <strong>Lanka</strong> <br />

• Submit a complete application with all necessary attachments, before the deadline.<br />

Late and incomplete applications will not be considered.<br />

If it is not possible to lodge an application online, contact the <strong>Sri</strong> <strong>Lanka</strong>n SASP office for<br />

assistance well in advance of the application deadline.<br />

Required Documentation<br />

The following documentation must be submitted by all ADS applicants at the time of application.<br />

Failure to provide these documents at the time of application will result in the applicant being<br />

deemed ineligible.<br />

• Proof of Citizenship i.e. Birth certificate/PassportfNational ID/Driving license (certfied<br />

copies)<br />

• Tertiary degree certificates (certfied copies)<br />

• Original Acdemic Transcript i.e. Academic grades (if not available at time of application<br />

these can be submitted by 15 th May 2012)<br />

• Proof of English language proficiency Le. IELTS or TOEFL (Academic) certificates<br />

• Other Document (Certificate of special achievements or merit)<br />

• Referee Reports - Must be ·from two academic referees. Referee's seal must be placed.<br />

(Templates for referee reports are available.) Masters by research students must provide at<br />

least one referee report from an academic supervisor in the proposed <strong>University</strong><br />

• Employment Letter (if employed)<br />

Applicants who are awarded'scholarships at the end of the selection process will be required to<br />

submit a Police Certificate when they lodge their applications for a student visa.<br />

the details given in their applications. Therefore, candidates are kindly requested to highly concern<br />

about this matter when they fill up their applications. Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact<br />

the SASP <strong>Sri</strong> <strong>Lanka</strong> Office to register for an <strong>information</strong> session and for any clarification on the<br />

application process. The <strong>information</strong> sessions will be held from mid-February till mid-March only.<br />
