Basic Qualifications
Applicants must
\
• be acitizen of Sri Lanka
• have at least 3 years experience in the public sector and be confirmed in their position
• have at least 2 years experience in the public sector in a fieJd relevant to the proposed
course- of study
• english language proficiency - an IELTS overall score of 6.5 (Academic module) with no
band less than 6.0 or TOEFL paper based test score of at least 580, or a TOEFL computer
based test score of at least 237 or a TOEFL internet based score of at least 92. Scores
must be valid until 1January 2013 and must be submitted with ascholarship application
• have a tertiary level qualification at least equivalent to an Australian Bachelor degree
• __ not have previously received any Sri Lankan or overseas government funded scholarship
for long term academic studies in a foreign country
•. not already be following a course of study at a university abroad
How to prepare
In order to be applying for ADS, applicants must:
• Satisfy eligibility reqyirements and conditions. Applicants should carefully read the
information in this document, visit the website of the South Asia Scholarship Programme
(SASP) (www.sDuthasiascholarship.org) and the Scholarships Handbook available at
http://www.ausaid.gov.au/scholar/publications.cfm. and seek further guidance from SASP
staff in order to ensure that all requirements are met.
• _ Be nominated by their employer. Applicants must submit an employement letter issued
by the Secretary of relevant line Ministry I Chief Secretary with their application
• Select preffered courses carafully. Applicants will not be able to change the course that
they have selected except in exceptional circumstances. The course must have aclear link
to the applicant's prior experience and support the applicant to contribute to development
outcomes on their return to Sri Lanka
• Submit a complete application with all necessary attachments, before the deadline.
Late and incomplete applications will not be considered.

Required Documentation
The following documentation must be submitted by all ADS applicants at the time of application.
Failure to provide these documents at the time of application will result in the applicant being
deemed ineligible.

• Proof of Citizenship i.e. Birth certificate/PassportfNational ID/Driving license (certfied
copies)
• Tertiary degree certificates (certfied copies)
• Original Acdemic Transcript i.e. Academic grades (if not available at time of application
these can be submitted by 15 th May 2012)
• Proof of English language proficiency Le. IELTS or TOEFL (Academic) certificates
• Other Document (Certificate of special achievements or merit)
• Referee Reports - Must be ·from two academic referees. Referee's seal must be placed.
(Templates for referee reports are available.) Masters by research students must provide at
least one referee report from an academic supervisor in the proposed University
• Employment Letter (if employed)
Applicants who are awarded'scholarships at the end of the selection process will be required to
submit a Police Certificate when they lodge their applications for a student visa.

Commitments of Candidates for the development of the country mainly will be assessed based on
the details given in their applications. Therefore, candidates are kindly requested to highly concern
about this matter when they fill up their applications. Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact
the SASP Sri Lanka Office to register for an information session and for any clarification on the
application process. The information sessions will be held from mid-February till mid-March only.
